Official, France:

In France, there is still no equivalent of the Freedom of Information Acts (FOIA) as it is now applied to some official UFO information in the majority of other countries, USA, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy etc. In France, and only in theory, information is supposedly possibly accessible 60 years after its date. (Thus 2014 for UFO cases of 1954 etc). It is only if you are "Somebody of Importance" such as TV journalist Jean-Claude Bourret in the 70's, or if you have "Friends Inside", or if you beg enough, that you can maybe pick up some documents.

Sighting in the Yonne, September 12, 1975:

This document was reproduced in the ufological literature long ago.

Official report of hearing, gendarmerie of the Yonne, brigade of Saint-Sauveur.
Hearing of a regimental sergeant major of the Air Force, Mr. [X].

"On September 12, 1975 at 10:05 p.m. I was in bed, I started to drowse and I was awaken from my sleep by a powerful and low noise, which can be decompsed into two noises: one being described as similar to a single-cylinder diesel engine and the other with an exhaust noise or continuous seepage noise. I stood up and from my window I saw an intense white gleam strewn with yellow which seemed to be in the fields, distant of 100 meters from my dwelling. The noise ceased and the gleam moved away rather quickly while rising following a rather weak angle. The gleam resembled a sphere from approximately 1 to 1,50 meters in diameter. On the circumference of it, I managed to note several kinds of small sticks emitting static noises and sparks, like the rods which you put in the Christmas trees. I specify that the departure was done without noise. My wife, who looked at the thater play on the television, saw the screen disturbed throughout a duration of five to six seconds. I specify that the ball of fire left in direction of the east and masked the Northern Star during three or four minutes."

Having read, I persist and sign.

Nature of the location

The hamlet of Cagnats, located on the community of Moutiers in the Yonne, is situated at one kilometer in straight line in the south-west of Saint-Sauveur in the Yonne. The dwelling of Mr. [X] is located [-]. The frontage is directed to the south-east.

Observations

Mr. [X] who was there indicated to us the place where he saw the flying object. This place was within 100 meters in the North-East. It is a small wood contiguous to a plantation of poplars. According to his statements, the flying object was stabilized at the height of the top of the poplars before quickly going away towards the North-East. At the time of research we did not discover any trace of landing.

Investigation

We verbally questioned all the people of the hamlet without obtaining further information. Nevertheless, several of them had heard the strong noise described above, but had not gone outside to see where it came from.

On September 14, 1975, continuing the investigation and research in the indicated direction, north-eastern, Mrs. [Y], domiciled in Saint-Sauveur, stated to us to have actually seen the flying object. According to her statements, she was in her bedroom, when she heard a strong noise. She advanced towards her window from where she saw a rather large luminous ball, without being able to define the size, this ball being partly masked by a close tree. According to the direction given, the flying object seemed to be withdrawing back towards the north. After of new research, no other information could be collected. We accounted for the facts to ourcompany commander. Moreover, the instantaneous disturbance of the image of television noted by Mrs. [X] was not noted by other people or did not capture their attention.
