Statement by Mr. Alain F[-], aged 33, resident of Carcès, tradesman:
Yesterday February 10, 1975, at approximately 08:30 p.m., whereas I circulated on the secondary road 562, from Brignoles to Carcès, I witnessed the presence of a UFO in the following circumstances. I was alone on board my vehicle, Peugeot 404, and the radio on board functioned normally. I was driving at the speed of 80 km/h, approximately, when suddenly at the outlet of the previous turn, I saw at approximately 200 meters, in the gleam of my headlights, a flying saucer. I continued to move in the direction of Carcès and I parked my vehicle on the left side at the level of the traffic sign. My engine continued to function to the idle, on the other hand the radio started to crackle and ceased functioning. From the place where I was, while remaining on board my vehicle, I distinctly saw on my right and at some forty meters, appreciably above the corn field, at a height of 5 or 6 m above ground level, this object, hovering.
Approximately, this object had the round shape of a Breton hat. It measured approximately about fifteen meters in its bigger length, and I perfectly distinguished five or six port-holes of rectangular shape enlightened and separated from each other of approximately 40 cm. From the back of this object, therefore towards Brignoles, an orange gleam came out and, below the machine, a certain clearness, with the result that I could perfectly distinguish the object and make the following sketch for you that I give you for whatever purpose it may serve. I specify that no noise came from this craft. I remained approximately 2 to 3 minutes in observation and at no time did the object move or emit signals or gleams of stronger intensity. No vehicle passed on the premises during this time. At once, I drove again in direction of Carcès and, after having crossed 3 or 400 m, my radio went back to function. I continued my trip directly until reaching your service in order to alert you. It is only on the return that I informed my wife. In the course of yesterday, I carried out the following operations: 0:30 a.m., I started from Carcès and I went to the market. I returned from there around 10 hours. Until midday I helped my wife. After having lunched, I took a nap at 01:30 p.m. and, at 03:30 p.m., I set out again to carry out deliveries until the night. It is when I was going back to Carcès that I saw this object.
During that day I consumed all in all only one quarter [of liter] of wine at the lunch and a liter and a half of milk. I did not absorb any drug for I am in perfect health. I was never the subject of any hallucination.
I did not see any movement inside the cabin nor by the port-holes. From the place I was, this cabin appeared to me of round form and measured approximately 2 meters in its greater height. During this appearance it was black dark but the sky was spangled. I do not see anything else to report.
