1978, PORTLAND, OREGONE, USA, A COUPLE OF STUDENTS:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

The Western Bigfoot Society Newsletter #11 Portland, Oregon, apparently reported that in 1978, at dusk, two students were near the Portland State College campus near an old tunnel system coming from the hills, when they heard a noise coming out of a sewer hole and saw what they described as a "mole man" come out of this hole.

It was not hairy, had big eyes, fangs, a long snout, a small hairy tail, three claws for the feet, circular and appearing not to be worn out.

Both students had the feeling that the thing psychically knew them, and that it was conscious.

It ran back into the hole when they threw rocks at it.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Portland, Oregon, in 1978, at dusk, a couple of students were near the Portland State College campus near an old tunnel system coming from the hills. They heard a noise coming out of the sewer hole, and saw what they describe as a "mole man" come out of the hole. It was not hairy, had big eyes, fangs, a long snout, three claws for the feet, but these were circular, and appeared not to be worn out. It also had a small hairy tail. Both students had the feeling that the thing psychically knew them, and that it was conscious. It ran back into the hole when they threw rocks at it.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "The Western Bigfoot Society Newsletter #11."

Points to consider:

See List of Issues.

The story is insufficient, and where it comes from is unsaid. Where there good or bad visibility conditions? Was this a quadruped or a biped? Since the students threw stones at it, was it far away? Was it 10 centimeters long or two meters high?

This is certainly not a "UFO occupant" report; even considering it a "Bigfoot" report is risky. Was it something to be found in the local fawna, beaver, wild pig... or was it maybe just a students prank?
