Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Ufological sources say that on the morning of October 8 or 9, 1978, near Ord, Nebraska, USA, tenth grade student Deanne Kearns observed a grey metallic disc hovering 200 to 300 feet off the ground.

As she watched, a beam of light shot downward from the disc to the ground and two "things" floated down to the ground in the beam.

The entities looked around, took some samples of shrubs and soil, and then ascended back into the disc in the beam of light.

The girl the two "things" as being 5 to 6 feet tall, blackish-brown in color, their heads were blob-like, and they had tentacles on their sides.

After about ten minutes or so, the disc shot straight up into the sky and was out of sight in a few seconds.

Richard Hall indicates that on October 8, 1978, in Ord, Nebraska, at 2:00 a.m., Deanne Kearns saw two 5- to 6-ft.-tall beings descended in a light beam from hovering a UFO shaped like one plate inverted on top of another, emitting a loud buzzing sound; the beings collected earth and plant samples.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Ord, Nebraska, on October 9, 1978, in the morning, in a farm area a witness watched a gray metallic disc hovering 200 feet off the ground, a beam of light shone down to the ground from the disc and two creatures floated down in it. The beings were five-foot tall, were black brown in color with blob like heads and what appeared to be tentacles on their sides. The beings took some shrub and soil samples and then ascended back into the object via the beam of light. The disc then shot up into the sky and disappeared.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Bob Gribble, Mufon Journal #246."

The website indicates that on october 8, 1978, at 02:00, in Ord N2M, Nebraska, USA, there was a monster. A multi-colored disc hovered at low altitude (75m) with loud buzzing sound and beamed two octopus-like tentacled monstrous beings down. They collected soil and plant samples. There was one female teenage witness called D. Kearns, it was on a road, it lasted ten minutes.
