JANUARY 2, 1978, SIMONSWOOD MOSS, WEST LANCASHIRE, U-K., FOUR YOUNG MEN:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

British ufologist Peter Hough reportedly indicated in a 1987 ufology book that in Simonswood Moss, West Lancashire, U-K, on January 2, 1978, at 11:00 p.m., four young men were returning home, driving on an isolated road in a flat area, and realized they had taken a wrong turn onto a narrow dirt road bordering a ditch.

They suddenly saw a 7-foot tall figure appear in the glare of the headlights 8 meters ahead. The being appeared to be wearing a white fluorescent one-piece suit with boots, it had no discernible facial features and it had very short arms ending in claws. It had a box with two flashing red lights on its chest.

The figure took two steps towards the witnesses and suddenly stopped. The witnesses panicked and left the area, driving to a nearby farm where they notified the authorities.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Simonswood Moss Rainford, England, on January 2, 1978, at 2300, four young men were returning home and were driving on an isolated road in a flat boggy area when they realized they had taken a wrong turn onto a narrow dirt road bordering a ditch. The being appeared to be wearing a white fluorescent one-piece suit with boots, it had no discernible facial features and it had very short arms ending in claws it also had a box with two flashing red lights on its chest. The figure took two steps towards the witnesses and suddenly stopped. The witnesses now in a state of panic left the area and drove to a nearby farm where they notified the authorities.

Points to consider:

A confusion at an 8 meters sighting distance and involving 4 observers is doubtful and the figure is of high strangeness; however the story is barely documented, of unknown origin and without being proven to come from 4 people, no sign of investigation or checking.
