British ufologist Peter Hough reportedly indicated in a 1987 ufology book that in Simonswood Moss, West Lancashire, U-K, on January 2, 1978, at 11:00 p.m., four young men were returning home, driving on an isolated road in a flat area, and realized they had taken a wrong turn onto a narrow dirt road bordering a ditch.
They suddenly saw a 7-foot tall figure appear in the glare of the headlights 8 meters ahead. The being appeared to be wearing a white fluorescent one-piece suit with boots, it had no discernible facial features and it had very short arms ending in claws. It had a box with two flashing red lights on its chest.
The figure took two steps towards the witnesses and suddenly stopped. The witnesses panicked and left the area, driving to a nearby farm where they notified the authorities.

Donald Johnson indicates that on January 2, 1978, four young men were driving home on an isolated road in a flat boggy area called Simonswood Moss in Rainford, England when they realized they had taken a wrong turn onto a narrow dirt road bordering a ditch. Suddenly a seven foot tall figure appeared in the glare of the headlights, eight meters ahead. The being was wearing a white fluorescent one-piece suit with boots. It had no discernible facial features and it had very short arms ending in claws. It also had a box with two flashing red lights on its chest. Donald Johnson indicates that his source is Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1978, case #377, citing Peter Hough, UFOs 1947-1987: The 40-Year Search for an Explanation.
A confusion at an 8 meters sighting distance and involving 4 observers is doubtful and the figure is of high strangeness; however the story is barely documented, of unknown origin and without being proven to come from 4 people, no sign of investigation or checking.
