MARCH 4, 1974, SOISY-SOUS-MONTMORENCY, VAL-D'OISE, FRANCE, A POLICE OFFICER:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

A case reported in the daily newspaper Le Parisien Libéré, was about 5 police officers including Mr. Berraza having observed a luminous object evolving during 2 hours above the valley of Montmorency, France, the unspecified date could be March 4 or 5, 1974; the report includes no sighting of any mysterious silhouette.

But two ufological sources tell about a figure being seen possibly in these circumstances.

The one says that police officer Mr. B. stood up one night of the middle 70's in Soisy-Sous-Montmorency to catch thieves he suspected to operate in his building carpark, and he encountered there a "frogman" individual dressed in black, carrying a tight-fitting one-piece suit, who fled running, his feet making no noise at all in contact with the ground. Mr. B. run after him, but oddly lost him at the exit of a porch, as if the character had disappeared in the bushes, however thin, which grew at the quay level separating the building from the street.

The other version tells that on March 4, 1974, at 05:40 a.m., six police officers faced a massively large dark humanoid figure or silhouette while they were investigating noises coming from a parking lot in Montmorency, France. When the officers approached, the figure disappeared quickly into a nearby acacia grove and no trace were found.

Narratives:

[Ref. jm1:] JOEL MESNARD:

Joel Mesnard indicates that a "frogman" was seen in a carpark at a date about the middle of the Seventies; which it is impossible to specify, in Soisy-sous-Montmorency.

Mr. B, a policeman, stood up in the middle of the night to try to catch thieves he thought to be operating in the carpark of his building, and was suddenly face-to-face with an individual dressed in black, carrying a tight-fitting one-piece suit, who fled running, his feet making no noise at all in contact with the ground.

Mr. B. run after him, but oddly lost him at the exit of a porch, as if the character had disappeared in the bushes, however thin, which grew at the quay level separating the building from the street.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Montmorency, France, on March 4, 1974, at 05:40 a.m., investigating noises coming from a parking lot, six police officers were confronted by a massive dark humanoid figure or silhouette standing at the edge of the parking lot. When the officers approached, the figure disappeared quickly into a nearby acacia grove. No traces were found.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Denys Breysse, Project Becassine.

[Ref. dj1:] DONALD JOHNSON:

Donald Johnson indicates that on March 4, 1974, at 05:40 a.m., six police officers were confronted by a massively large dark humanoid figure or silhouette while they were investigating noises coming from a parking lot in Montmorency, France. It stood at the edge of the lot. When the officers approached, the figure disappeared quickly into a nearby acacia grove. No traces were found.

Donald Johnson indicates that is source is Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1974, citing Denys Breysse, Project Becassine.

Points to consider:

By comparing what seems to come from Denis Breysse and what comes from Joel Mesnard, it appears that there is likely some confusion between two different occurrences.

One, reported in the daily newspaper Le Parisien Libéré, pages 1 and 2, for March 6, 1974, is about 5 police officers having observed a luminous object evolve during 2 hours above the valley of Montmorency, the date given by the newspaper being "the other evening", and the report includes no sighting of any mysterious silhouette.

The other concerns the case whose date is not clear, involving only one police officer, investigating about thieves in the carpark.

It is not excluded at all that there would really be a link between the two cases all the same, Joel Mesnard indicates that the witness is one "Mr. B.", and the main witness in the case of the newspaper is police officer Mr. Berraza.

In any event, it does not seem to exist any solid reason to discard that the dark character in the carpark was an ordinary man not clearly seen in the darkness, and not an alien being or a "Man in Black."
