A few weeks after the events, Quebec ufologists Wido Hoville and Phillippe Blanquidre investigated the case of Saint Mathias de Chambly, Quebec, Canada, of October 6, 1973.
45 minutes after midnight, Mr. and Mrs. N. R., whose identities are known of these investigators, strolled along a countryside road when they noticed an intense light like that of a projector coming from a field approximately 400 meters away.
In the morning, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Mrs. R. hung her washing in her backyard, when she noticed a column of smoke rising from fields in the north. She called her husband, who was puzzled about what must have been a fire, because there was no visible flame on the one hand, and because it had rained earlier, and that the wet field should not take fire.
As their attention was now concentrated in this direction, Mr. and Mrs. R. located a yellowish object in the shape of a dome, which they said resemble a camper's tent, at a short distance of the place where the smoke rose. They concluded that a group of boy-scouts must have set up their campsite and lit a campfire.
Then, an object of square shape and yellow color resembling a bulldozer emerged from the tent and went to the source of a brook at 60 meters of the tent. Still thinking it was boy-scouts, they were not really astonished when they saw five childish silhouettes, approximately 1.20 meters tall, wearing bright yellow suits and head covers resembling football helmets.
These figures seemed to carry something in their arms, hastening to and fro between the "tent" and the "bulldozer". Because of the high undergrowth, no movement of their legs could be seen.
The indifferent couple was busy with their routine occupations, throwing a glance only from time to time to the field, to see 25 minutes later than the "scouts", the tent and the bulldozer were gone. This puzzled them since the only road to leave the place went along their farm, and they should have normally seen the "campers" leaving. Slightly mystified, they started to wonder whether a more exotic explanation would be fit, the more so when a neighbor told them he saw a "yellow tent" take off and fly away towards the Rougement Mount, 25 miles more in the east.
When the couple's daughter returned from her workplace in the evening, her parents told her about the incident. She went to check the location and discovered a 15 meters diameter circle of burned and crushed grass, as well as a 15 centimeters broad trace resembling tractor marks, going from this circle towards a smaller circle of 4 meters located near the brook's source.
When she came back home, her head started to ache, she vomited and suffered symptoms of nausea. She did not get a medical opinion since the headache and nausea quickly ended.
The investigators managed to see and photograph these traces, still visible weeks later, and found, in the large circle, three square marks laid out in a triangle of 34 feet length.
The first circle was still visible, just as the track and the other smaller circle. We took some photographs color which show the marks of burn clearly and the prints which make think of a track. At this time, they did not have a Geiger counter and could not measure possible radiations, which were suggested to them by nauseas of the girl of Mr. and Mrs. R.
When he checked the place, Mr. N. R. on his part estimated that it must have been traces from the police officers who were in search of cattle robbers who had recently been reported in the area.

Saint Matthias de Chambly, Quebec - Oct. 6, 1973Daytime encounters with UFO occupants are extremely rare. For this reason, the appearance of dwarf-like beings in broad daylight at Saint Matthias, east of Montreal, stands out as a unique occurrence. Unlike most such cases, this occupant presence does not appear to have been intended for scientific or investigative purposes. Rather it would seem that the brief UFO landing may have been an emergency stop, provoked by the need to replenish water supplies. The incident is also unusual in that the witnesses mistook the small child-like creatures they saw for boy scouts doing their "good deed for the day." It all began at 12:45 in the early morning hours of Oct. 6, 1971, when Mr. and Mrs. N.R., (whose identities are know to UFO-Quebec researchers) were strolling along a country road. They noticed an intense light coming from a field about a quarter of a mile away. It resembled a searchlight. Several weeks later, when word of the incident had reached the offices of UFO-Quebec, Wido Hoville and Phillippe Blanquidre inspected the site and filed this report: The first circle was still visible and so was the track and the other smaller circle. We took some color photos which vividly demonstrate the burn markings and the track-like imprints. Within the circumference of the large circle, we found three square imprints arranged in a triangular pattern 34 feet in length. At the time, we didn't have a Geiger counter and it was impossible to conduct a radiation count. By scanning the area, Mr. R. dismissed it as coming from police officers out looking for the cattle rustlers who had recently plagued the area. The next morning at about 11:30 a.m., Mrs. R. was hanging up the wash in her backyard, when she noticed a column of smoke rising from the fields to the north. She called her husband, who was baffled by the curious nature of what should have been a fire. Not only was there no visible flame but as it had rained earlier, that type of combustion in a water-logged field seemed highly improbable. With their attention now focused in that direction, Mr. and Mrs. R. spotted a round, yellowish, dome-shaped object resembling a camper's tent, a short distance away from the "fire." They concluded that a group of boy scouts must have set up camp and started a campfire. Suddenly, a yellow square-shaped object resembling a bulldozer emerged from the tent and proceeded to take up position near a springabout 200 feet away. Still thinking of boy scouts, they didn't question the appearance of five child-like figures about four feet in height. Wearing bright yellow suits with a headgear resembling football helmets, the figures seemed to be carrying something in their arms as they scurried back and forth between the tent and the object. Due to the tall undergrowth, no leg movements could be distinguished. Unperturbed by the presence of the young campers, the couple resumed their chores and only periodically glanced across the field. Then, 25 minutes later, "scouts" and tents were gone. Since the only road leading out of the field runs along the couple's farmhouse, they should normally have seen the "campers" depart. Somewhat mystified, they began to reevaluate their theory and wondered if a more exotic explanation would be in order. The first hint of a possible UFO connection came from a neighbor who told the couple that he had seen a "yellow tent" take off and head towards Mont Rougement, 25 miles farther east. When the couple's daughter returned from work that evening, her parents told her about the incident. She walked across the field to the "campsite" and discovered a 50-foot-wide circle of burnt and crushed grass. She also noticed a six-inch-wide track, resembling tractor marks, leading from the circle toward a smaller 12-foot-wide circle by the spring. When Miss R. returned to the house, her head began to ache and she felt nauseous-symptoms often associated with radiation exposure. She did not seek medical attention as the headache and the nausea soon disappeared. A curious side note to the affair is the unresolved case of the "cattle thieves." While we can find not a shred of evidence linking the cattle disappearances to our cosmic "water bearers," it is noteworthy that such animal abductions have occurred in conjunction with intense UFO activity. |

Godelieve van Overmeire indicates that on October 6, 1973, in Canada, in St Mathias de Chambly, at approximately 00:45, the R.N. married couple saw like the light of a large projector at 500 meters of them sweeping the ground of their property. The husband supposed that it was the police force in the search of cattle robbers reported in the area. Towards 11:35, going to hang the wash behind the house, Mrs. R.N. saw a thick smoke on a field wet from the rain. She thus called her husband, because the smoke at this place was rather strange. In the same direction, the witnesses saw a kind of yellow-orange cupola, 25 meters in diameter, with vague contours as drowned in the fog. The object was within 500 meters on the ground and a kind of yellow-orange "bulldozer" emerged of it and moved away to 65 meters from the large machine, at the edge of the brook close to its source. There was then a comings and goings of 5 small characters of 1 meters in height, covered of a shiny orange suit, who moved quickly, very busy and like in a hurry finishing some work. The small apparatus went back moving while following the brook and stopped 100 meters further. The observation lasted between 20 and 25 minutes, but the witnesses were occupied with their occupations, coming to see from time to time "if the children" were always there. Towards 11:55 all had disappeared. The daughter of the witnesses went to see on the spot and found a large circle, 18 meters in diameter, and a smaller circle of 4 meters where the grass was flattened and burned by places. As soon as she came back home, she suffered headaches and vomiting.

The distance at which the "tent", the "bulldozer" and the "boy-scouts" were observed is not reported. It very possible that they were quite far, and that the observation really was about some tent, bulldozer, workmen, interpreted as such at the time, and having only moderately intrigued the witnesses. A clear description of the tracks - of tractor? - and more thorough research could have helped to determine it. There remain some strangeness to the case, such as the neighbor indicating to have seen the "tent" taking off, but that is not well documented.
