September 23 or 30, 1968, Roncenay, Aube, France, Guy Lemarque and a friend:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Field investigators Luc Billon and Raoul Foin reported in 1973 in the famous Lumières Dans La Nuit ufology magazine on a case that occurred on September 23 or 30, 1968, at 03:00 in the night in Roncenay in the Aube, France.

They heard the witness Guy Lemarque, aged 16, who told that he and a comrade were walking back on a small road after having given up their out of gas motorcycle. The sky was starry, without clouds, and the temperature rather low.

Guy Lemarque observed a "large red star" that moved rather horizontally at high speed.

Then, in the turn of the road, masked hitherto by a thicket, they saw an object resting on kinds of metal crutches at 1.50 meters above the ground. Its length was 15 to 18 meters, its height 1.20 meters.

It was of orange-red luminous color, round, with a kind of luminous halation or a ring of light, produced by many projectors laid out like port-holes, not dazzling. Its higher part was in the form of a cupola and of dark color.

Surprised, they hid in a ditch and observed this object posed at 150 meters of them, as well as three beings moving with very strong sources of light in their left hand. These sources of light lit like quartz halogen lamps. The beings seem to look for something and ran without touching the ground, at 60 centimeters above the grass approximately.

Guy Lemarque reported to the investigators that the three beings moved sometimes by making 100 meters long jumps, as if they slipped, so quickly that the displacement could not be followed visually.

One of the beings approached the witnesses, it was noted that their hands had two fingers comparable to pincers. As the being was now 15 feet from the witnesses, they fled, terrified, thus they did not see the object taking off.

Guy Lemarque made another observation, in Michery, in the Yonne, on December 5, 1971.

I recently had the opportunity to make an investigation, with one of my friends, for the magazine "Lumières Dans La Nuit", into one of these landings [with occupants]. It is a young man of Sens, Guy L., who was the witness and told us about it, at the end of September 1968, around Troyes, on the side of Machy, in the Aube. Around 3 hours of the morning, in the night from Sunday to Monday, Guy L. was the witness of a display that he describes as frightening and which he will not forget soon. Close to Roncenay, at 10 km in the south of Troyes, he was walking back with a comrade, by a small road, having abandonned their out of gas motor-cycle. They had initially seen like a large red star which moved very fast and rather horizontally. Then, in a turning of the road, they suddenly saw an object, of red orange color, luminous in the night, resting on kinds of feet, at 1.50 m of the ground approximately. It had a round shape, with, around it, a kind of luminous halation and on its section a ring of light, produced by many lighted but not dazzling port-holes. The higher part was not lighted; round in the shape of cupola, it was however seen a little.

The height appeared to him that of a normal car and the length, about that of a coach... The witnesses add this: "We hid in a ditch, sheltered from their sight by a grassy slope, when we saw that there were characters who moved around the craft. They evolved rather quickly, with very strong sources of light in their hands. They ran but at a certain distance from the ground, 50 or 60 cm, therefore without touching the ground. One of them approached us within a few meters and we saw his hands which seemed to have only 2 fingers, like grips. These beings were small, hardly more than one meter surely. When we thought that they had been able to detect our presence, we left, running, afraid, and we did not look back, so that we did not know when the craft took off..."

(This report was published in the magazine "Lumières Dans La Nuit", October 73 issue).

The following remarks can be made: a hand of a man, seen horizontally by the section and the fingers stuck together, can also give the impression of a claw. In addition, they perhaps had black gloves, which would have given this impression? Lastly, the fact that they ran without touching the ground implies the suppression of gravity; perhaps the rays which came from their hands were precisely used to remove this weightlessness? In any event, nothing is impossible in this field, since on board planet Earth, we also perform research on antigravity and that we know that when our astronauts go on the Moon, their weight is decreased considerably!

[Ref. fr1:] MICHEL FIGUET AND JEAN-LOUIS RUCHON:

The authors indicate that on September 23 or 30, 1968, at 3 o'clock in Roncenay in the Aube, Guy Lemarque, aged 16, and a comrade, returned by foot on a small road after having given up their out of gas motorcycle.

Guy Lemarque observed a "large red star" that moved horizontally at high speed. Then, suddenly, in the turn of the road, masked hitherto by a thicket, the two witnesses saw an object on the ground, of orange red luminous color, resting on kinds of metal feet or legs, at 1 meter of the ground. Its form was round, with a kind of luminous halation, a ring of light, around, produced by many projectors laid out like port-holes, not dazzling. Its higher part is round in the form of cupola and dark color. Its length is 15 to 18 meters, its height 1.20 meters.

They are surprised and hide in a ditch and observe the object located at 150 meters of them, as well as three beings moving with very strong sources of light in their left hand. These sources of light lit like quartz halogen lamps. The beings seemed to have two fingers comparable to grips. The beings seem to look for something and run without touching ground, above the grass, at 60 centimeters approximately. Guy Lemarque reported to the investigators that the three beings moved sometimes by making jumps of one hundred meters, as if they slipped, so quickly that the displacement could not be followed.

One of the beings approached the witnesses who fled, terrorized, and did not see the object taking off.

The sky was starry, without clouds, and the temperature rather low.

The authors note that Guy Lemarque made another observation, in Michery, in the Yonne, on December 5, 1971.

The authors indicate that the source is an investigation by Luc Billon and Raoul Foin in L.D.L.N. #128, pages 10-11.

[Ref. cc1:] GILBERT CORNU ET HENRI CHALOUPEK:

The authors indicate that in France, on September 23 or 30, 1968, around 3 in the morning, in the area of Roncenay in the Aube, by a beautiful starlit night, two young people were walking back home because their motor-cycle failed.

One of them suddenly noticed a large red star which moved very fast, horizontally, in the sky.

A little later but without them observing the link between the two facts, they saw in the turning of the road a circular and luminous object, of yellow-orange color; which rested on the ground on kinds of feet.

They then hid in the ditch and saw three beings evolving near the craft. The beings held very powerful "sources of light" in their left hand and seemed to be looking for something.

What struck the witnesses the most was that the beings moved quickly, as by jumps, at approximately 60 centimeters above the ground and without touching the grasses as if they slipped into the air; these "jumps" were as long as a hundred meters.

At a given time, one of these beings approached the place where the witnesses were, and they fled, terrorized, and did not attend the end of the display.

The authors indicate that the source is LDLN #128 pages 17 à 19.

[Ref. go1:] GODELIEVE VAN OVERMEIRE:

The ufologist indicates that on September 23 or 30, 1968, in France in Roncenay, two young witnesses were returning by foot at 03:00 on a small road after having given up their out of gas motorcycle. In the turning of the road, masked by the thicket, they saw a round object on the ground, of orange red luminous color, resting on kinds of metallic feet at 1 meter of the ground. Around, a luminous halation was produced by many projectors laid out like port-holes. The higher part in form of cupola was of dark color and the length of the machine from 15 to 18 meters, its height 1.20 meters.

Surprised, they hid in a ditch and observed the object within 150 meters of them, as well as three beings evolving with very strong sources of light in their left hand. They seemed to look for something and ran without touching the ground, above the grass, at 60 cm approximately.

One of the beings approached the witnesses who have fled, terrorized, and did not see the apparatus taking off.

One of the witness, Guy Lemarque stated to the investigators that the three beings moved sometimes by making jumps of 100 meters, as if they slipped, so fast that the displacement could not be followed.

The author indicates that the source is "Ovni, Premier dossier complet..." by M. Figuet and J.L. Ruchon, Alain Lefeuvre publisher, 1979, pages 304 et 305.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Roncenay, Aude, France, on September 30, 1968, at 03:00 a.m., Guy Lemargue, 16, was walking with a friend on a small country road when they saw, about 150 yards away, a disc shaped red orange luminous UFO, about 50 feet in diameter and 4 feet in height, resting on legs. It had a row of portholes all around the edge.

Beside it, several luminous entities of small stature were "maneuvering" with very strong lights sources in their hands, which they shone on the ground. They walked 2 feet above the ground, and sometimes made sudden gliding leaps of 100 yards. One approached within 15 feet of the boys, and they could see that his hands were pincers or crab-claw-like.

Realizing that he must have detected their presence, they ran away.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Luc Billion and Raoul Foin, LDLN.

Points to consider:

The primary source not available to me yet, with only summaries available, I remain with a certain number of questions without answers. For example, it is important to know whether the investigators heard only one of the witnesses or whether they heard both, or to know whether they actually found reasons on the spot to discard the possibility of some farming machine and men provided with flashlights. As the sources stand, it is very likely that the investigation was no more than writing down the statement of one witness only.

The fast move of the entities would eliminate in fact that they were human beings provided with flashlights if the description were taken literally, with these 100 meters jumps, the fast speed and by the "hovering" of the beings above the grass. But the summaries are not clear enough on this matter, and it remains possible to imagine that it was in fact the luminous spots of the flashlights on the ground that created this impression of speed, not speed of the moves of the beings, and then the "hovering" above ground-level could also be some false impression.

It should be noted that the UFO itself is at no time seen in any other manner than posed on the ground; it was not seen landing, nor taking off, and the link with the fast-flying "large red star" - on which no indication of angular displacement or angular size is given - is not really established. The UFO is also not clearly visible. Its "upper dome" is barely seen, the rest might have been a farming machine bathed in the halation of its row of headlights, and thus not identified as such.

It was also important to explain what the other later sighting by one of the witnesses was.

Lastly, apparently, the witness, aged 16 at the time of the sighting, it seems, waited 5 years before reporting, or before being heard. The scenario of a confusion that became with the passing of the years more puzzling or important to him as a possible reading of UFO literature cannot be eliminated.
