It seems that according to the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit in 1971, between San Quirze Safaja and San Feliu de Codines, in Spain, on the regional road 1413, in the end of September 1967, around 09:30 p.m., Mauricio Weisenthal his fiancée Rosa Maria Font were in a vehicle at about 4 kilometers of San Feliu de Codines, roulant vers Barcelone, when they saw a creature crossing the road at a distance of 120 metres.
It was described as shiny satin-like, of phosphorescent neon green colour, 70 centimeters tall, with an egg-shaped head proportionate to the body and no visible neck, enormous arms and big hands. The belly was well-developed and buttocks protruding.
The witnesses had to swerve to avoid hitting it and were shocked by its appearance.
It walked quietly and then sped up and turned off. It moved with an intense working of elbows and knees.
The sighting duration was about 8 seconds; no UFO was seen.

[Ref. rl1:] RENAUD LECLET:
There are many other probable misinterpretations of birds belonging to the strigiform order (owls) among world UFO cases. We already have listed a dozen of them, with the help of our friends from France (notably CNEGU group) and from other countries (Italy, Spain, .). Among these gems, we found the following four cases. Fragmentary information we have about them does not allow an in-depth study. They will therefore be presented here in a very succinct manner, with the hope to elicit complementary investigations if it is still possible. Between San Quirze Safaja and San Félu de Codines (Spain), regional road N°1413, end of September 1967 around 9.30 p.m. The witnesses in a vehicle see a creature crossing the road at a distance of 120 metres. The little shiny greenish entity is 70 cm tall. The egg-shaped head is proportionate to the body and no neck is visible. It has enormous arms and big hands. It walks quietly and then speeds up and turns off. Its belly is well-developed and buttocks are protruding. It moves with intense working of elbows and knees. The body surface is satin-like and shiny, with a phosphorescent neon green colour. The sighting duration is about 8 seconds. No UFO is seen. Reference: Lumières dans la Nuit, Contact Lecteurs N°4, pp.15-16, November 1971. Witnesses describe here a phosphorescent green being. Could they have seen a luminous owl? Or, more simply, was there a reflection of the vehicle headlights on a night raptor (satin-like shiny aspect) and, for the colour (neon green), an inspiration from the Kelly-Hopkinsville case, that was given a lot of media coverage? An eared owl, seen laterally, is possible only if the ear tufts are turned down and if the estimated height is reliable. The elbow motion would correspond to the wings movement during the rocking walk that is characteristic of birds. The knee motion does not exist in raptors and would be an interpretation of the very peculiar movement of their feet, ill-adapted to a surfaced road. The bird was perhaps disturbed on its territory by the forest fires that occurred the same day around 4 p.m. in that area, and would have chosen to leave and search quieter quarters. More than the mystery concerning the entity, that looks very much like a bird, with its "upright big chicken" appearance, the origin of the green luminescence would be interesting to clear up. Is it caused by fungal spores or mycelium fragments and, if yes, which ones? It is to be noted that luminous owls, described as such, do not have this green colour. Are other fungus species or luminescent bacteria involved? I have to conclude that this fantastic catch-all named ufology offers much food for thought to several branches of science (ornithology, bacteriology, mycology, .). I intend to continue with contacting various specialists for obtaining their views on these questions. Following our modest investigations on San Félu de Codines case, another case was kindly proposed to me by Manuel Borraz, who I thank here for his help. |
[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that Near San Feliu de Codines, Barcelona, Spain, in the end of September 1967, at 09:30 p.m., Mauricio Weisenthal and his fiancée, Rosa Maria Font, were about 4 km from San Feliu de Codines, driving to Barcelona, when they saw in the headlights of their car a humanoid being, about 2-feet tall, with a protuberant stomach and buttocks, with a bright green skin, short thick legs, and long arms. They had to swerve to avoid hitting it and were shocked by its appearance.
Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Joan Crexells, and Humcat 1967-99

The name "Weisenthal" for the male witness is very lileky Wiesenthal in reality.
Renaud Leclet's interpretation makes a rather good explanation for the sighting. It should be noted that the duration is very brief, counting in seconds, and that no first hand witness stement seems available.
Concerning the greenish color, Renaud Leclet created an useless difficulty to his thesis in my opinion: as a kid I used to play "ghosts" during the night with my comrades, using the phosphorescent mushroom powders appearing on some trees; this powder was generally greenish.
