In the midst of several UFO or entity reports, four people claimed that they saw a strange disc-shaped ship parked in front of the Eduvigio Building, on Avila Avenue, in the San Bernardino section of Caracas on the morning of August 7, 1967. It is said remained on the ground there for several hours; no occupant was seen.
However the same morning at 02:00 a.m., a 20 years old trade student, Pedro Riera, who slept in a dormitory bedroom of the fifth "Eduviges" building of the same avenue reported that he was awaken by his bed being shaken. He opened his eyes and sat on the bed, to see that besides the bed was a creature approximately one meter tall. It had a disproportionately large head, was wearing a "rubber suit" and was referred to as a Martian in the newspapers afterwards.
The creature rushed away and Riera chased it, to see it flee out of an open window at the second floor. When he reached the window he tried to check where the creature had gone but he was blinded by multi-colored beams of light which forced him to look away, and he was unable to determine the source of the lights other than that they were on the ground.
Riera got dressed and went to investigate, but a light rain had begun to fall and he dropped the search.
In the morning, he and several friends and neighbors found a semi-circular scuff mark on the street below, and little footprints which were of a reddish dust. The footprints led from the scuff-mark to the balcony behind the window where Riera said the creature had escaped.
Betty Ruff, a neighbor, came to the scene and stated that she had known Riera since his boyhood and that she felt she was qualified to comment on his serious and reliable nature. Riera's uncle, Civil Air Captain Gregorio Armando, interrogated Riera and was convinced that he had seen exactly what he claimed to have seen.

That Caracas, Venezuela, newspaper published the following article on August 9, 1967:

Which means:
IN SAN BERNARDINO A MartianA 20 years old student claims to have seen a Martian in his dormitory, who then fled by the window and moved in a flying saucer. It is Pedro Riera, trade student, who lives in the fifth "Eduviges" of the "Avila" avenue of "San Bernardino", who at the time when our journalists visited his residence was not there. According to the information of relatives and friends, he saw a dwarf, of more or less of 1 meter in height; who when noticing that his presence was seen, rushed through the window and fled into a set of lights coming from what might be a flying saucer. The authors indicate that four people claimed that they saw a strange disc-shaped ship parked in front of the Eduvigio Building, on Avila Avenue, in the San Bernardino section of Caracas on the morning of August 7, 1967. The object remained on the ground there for several hours.
These people saw no occupants, but one Pedro Riera of the same building claimed he was awaken of a sound sleep by the shaking of his bed at 2:00 a.m. the same morning.
Riera sat up and opened his eyes, and then saw a little creature by his bed. Riera jumped out of bed, whereupon the creature "flew" or "soared" out through the open window. When Riera reached the window to check where the creature had gone, he was blinded by multi-colored beams of light which forced him to look away, and he was unable to determine the source of the lights other than that they were on the ground.
Riera got dressed and went to investigate, but a light rain had begun to fall and he dropped the search.
In the morning, however, he and several friends and neighbors found a semicircular scuff mark on the street below, and little footprints which were of a reddish dust. The footprints led from the scuff-mark to the balcony where Riera said the creature had escaped.
[Ref. jv1:] JACQUES VALLEE:
In his listing of UFO landings, Vallée noted that on August 07, 1967, in the San Bernardino section of Caracas, Venezuela, at 02:00, Pedro Riera, of Avila Avenue, was awakened by the shaking of his bed and saw a creature in his room, which "flew" out through the open window. Lights on the ground blinded the witness when he rushed to the balcony. Other people had seen a strange vehicle parked in the street. Vallée indicates "Lor. III 74" as source.
[Ref. js1:] JACQUES SCORNEAUX:
This ufologist indicates that on August 7, 1967 towards 2 a.m., in the district of San Bernardino, Caracas, Venezuala, Pedro Riera was drawn from his sleep by violent jolts which agitated his bed, and that he saw close to him a "creature" which "flew away" by the open window.
He approached the window but was dazzled by multicolored beams of lights which seemed to come from the ground and he could not identify the source of these lights.
The next day morning with some friends, he found a semicircular scratch in the street above his place, and also small prints of steps which consisted of a reddish dust and went from the scratch to the balcony from where the small man had flown away.
Two teenagers and a child had been waked up by the lights and had seen, from their window, at approximately 2 a.m., a saucer posed on the ground in front of the house of Mr. Riera.
Some of the references given by Jacques Scorneaux are in another part of his article that I do not have: "98, pp. 222-223; Coral et Jim Lorenzen, UFOs over the Americas, Signet Books, 1968" and the author specifies that these two references give a nearly identical account, whereas in "36, case 866;" and in the Flying Saucer Review, vol. 14, N.3, of May June 1968, pp. 18-19, there are additional details that he does not provide being cautious because the source is a Brazilian newspaper quoting a Venezuela newspaper.
[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates that in San Bernardino, Caracas, Venezuela, on August 7, 1967, at 02:00 a.m., Pedro Riera was awakened by his bed's being shaken, and then saw a small being in front of him. It had a disproportionately large head, was wearing a "rubber suit."
Riera jumped out of bed and grabbed the little man, but he wriggled free and went out the second floor window. Riera looked out and saw a round, multicolored luminous object so brilliant that he had to close his eyes.
In the morning, he found deposits of a rust-like substance, and small footprints in this "rust" on the pavement below his balcony. Several neighbors had observed the UFO.
Rosales indicates that the sources are Guillermo Jose Schael and the APRO Bulletin.
It seems that an UFO event took place within an urban area with multiple and independent witnesses. Unfortunately the current absence of the details primary newspaper article and the apparent absence of investigation by ufologists lessen the value of a potentially high reliability of the case.
