In the end of the 1970's, the British ufology group Contact UK reportedly interviewed a housewife in Ermington, Devon, who wanted to remain anonymous.
She told that she was hanging the washing in the back garden of her home yard, when she saw a blue shining shape approach her home from the north. she told:
"The light hovered over the garden. I was petrified. I dropped the washing. Suddenly I was completely enveloped in bubbles of light. I saw three beings, who looked like men. They did not speak. They were about five-feet tall, wearing bluish metallic-like clothing. They grasped me by the arms, and we were lifted up to a beam of light into a kind of room. There were more of the men there. I was given the impression - I don't know how - that I would come to no harm."
"A little later, I found myself back on the lawn. I felt a sharp blow on the back of my neck. When I looked around, the thing set off at great speed and disappeared."
The story was then told in several ufology books and catalogues, sometimes dated October 1965, sometimes February 1978.

[Ref. bh1:] ROBERT E. BARTHOLOMEW AND GEORGE S. HOWARD:
The authors indicate that in February 1978, in Ermington, Devon, England, Mrs. G. was pressing clothes in her backyard, and noticed a shining blue shape approach her home from the north. She was soon engulfed "in bubbles of light", and three apparently male beings about five feet tall wearing bluish-metallic clothing approached.
She said that "They grasped me by the arms and we were lifted up [by] a beam of light into a kind of room. There were more of the men there. I was given the impression - I don't know how - that I would come to no harm."
Later, she said, "I found myself back on my lawn. I felt a sharp blow on the back of my neck. I was stunned but not hurt. When I looked around, the thing set off at great speed and disappeared."
The authors indicate that the source is Nigel Blundell and Roger Boar, The World's Greatest UFO Mysteries (New York: Exeter, 1984), page 54, quoting an interview based on an investigation by the British UFO group Contact UK.
[Ref. go1:] GODELIEVE VAN OVERMEIRE:
Godelieve van Overmeire indicates that in February 1978, in England in Ermington, Plymouth, a woman who wishes to remain anonymous told that she was abducted by a beam of light into the inside of a spaceship, whereas she was hanging wet linen on wires in her garden.
Initially she saw a form with the blue gleams arrive in the sky in the north. "The light hovered above the garden. I was petrified and the linen fell from my hands. Suddenly I was completely taken in bubbles of light. I saw three entities resembling men. They did not speak. They measured approximately 1 m 50 and were dressed in bluish metallic clothing. They caught me by the arms and we went up together in this beam of light into a sort of room. Other men were there. I then had the impression that they meant no harm to me. A little later I found myself in the entry of my garden. At the back of my neck I had a painful bump. I was awestruck, but not wounded. When looked up, the thing was disappearing in the sky at high speed."
The source is indicated as Roger Boar and Nigel Blundel in "The World's greatest Ufo Mysteries", Hamlyn publishers, 1995, page 54.
[Ref. vk1:] VIKAS KHATRI:
The author indicates that a housewife in Devon claimed that she was grabbed by aliens and beamed into a spaceship as she was pegging washing out in her back garden at Ermington near Plymouth, in February 1978.
The woman was quizzed by UFO researchers and wanted to remain anonymous. She said she first saw a blue shining shape approach her home from the north, and said:
The author says the woman was identified only as "Mrs G" and told her story to Contact UK, one of the largest British UFO investigation organizations, and Bernard Delair, one of Contact UK's senior members said that "we take this report very seriously. Her story is very graphic and fits many others."
[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Ermington, Devon, England, on October 1965, in the morning, a Mrs G., while hanging clothes in her backyard, saw a blue light whirling towards her from the north. It hovered over the garden, and the woman was extremely frightened, and dropped her washing. The she was enveloped in bubbles of light, and she saw three humanoid beings, about 5 feet tall, dressed in bluish metallic like clothing. They said nothing but took the woman by the arms and all were lifted up into a kind of room. There were more of these beings there. A little later she found herself back in her yard, at which time she felt a sharp blow on the back of her neck, which stunned her. She then noticed the UFO departing at high speed.
Albert Rosales indicates as source Bernard Delair.

[Ref. ud2:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:
The website indicates that in February 1978, at 13:00, in Ermington, UK, a woman saw blue shining shape in daylight and was abducted by 5' tall beings. One blue object was observed by the witness on a farm for over 60 minutes, and one 5-foot-tall being was seen.
The source is indicated as Hatch, Larry, *U* computer database, Author, Redwood City, 2002.
It is obvious that there are only two possibilities of explanation for this poorly documented case. Either Mrs. G told the truth, or she invented the story. Unfortunately, as can be seen in the List of Issues below, the information available for me, quite sparse, without any information on the psychological state of the witness, her credibility, does not allow to choose that she must have told the truth.
Even the date of the alleged occurrence is unclear, with two imprecise and very different dates. It is quite possible that October 1965 would be the date of the alleged occurrence and February 1978 the date at which the witness was interviewed by Contact UK.
