British ufologist Gordon Creighton reported that the newspaper El Heraldo, Concordia, Argentina, August 16, 1965, reported that in Salto, North-Western Uruguay, at 11 p.m. on or about August 15, 1965, five persons traveling in a car saw a blinding light, heard a terrifying hum, and saw a UFO land right in front of them on the road. The car's engine stalled.
The vivid white light of the UFO changed to red, then green, and then yellow, from time to time, after which it dimmed enough for them to see that what lay before them was a leaden-colored object about 3 meters high and occupying the whole width of the road. It was only about 3 or 4 meters from their car.
Three of the people fainted, while the other two sat there petrified with fear.
Inside the UFO was a green light that enabled them to see inside the craft three beings who looked human and were moving about and moving their arms.
Suddenly, numerous bursts of reddish-yellow flame shot from the sides of the craft, it rose to about 1 meter above the road, the terrible hum began again, then the craft shot straight upwards and vanished.

The authors indicate that near Salto, northwest Uruguay, at about 11 P.M. on August 15, 1965 a leaden-colored object landed on a road and stalled a car. The object had a white light which changed to red, green, then yellow and dimmed nearly out before repeating the sequence. Three of the astonished passengers of the car fainted and the other two sat transfixed with fear. Through a window in the object, they could see three humanlike beings moving about. The craft suddenly departed at high speed amid bursts of reddish-yellow flame and a deafening humming noise.

Its brilliant white luminescence changed from red to yellow and green. The object itself, a leaden color, was 9 ft high and as wide as the road. Three of the people in the car fainted, while the other two were able to see figures moving about inside the craft. Suddenly, bursts of flame shot from the sides of the machine and it rose about 1m from the ground. The humming sound started again, and the machine then took off straight upwards and vanished.

The deafening noise, the window, the green light in the object and the human occupants make think of some helicopter landing, while the flames are one of the rare elements which do not match. One can only regret the absence of precise and verified information and the apparent lack of a ufological investigation of this sighting report.
