It seems that the newspaper The Hamilton Spectator, of Hamilton, Ontario, reported on August 16, 1965, that truck driver from Lakeview claimed to have seen a half-human, half-animal beast, six or seven feet tall, on a side road near Smithville, on August 9, 1965.
The man estimated it weighed 500 pounds. A secondary source reports that it was covered with hairs, had powerful shoulders, a head that seemed too small for its body, and inordinately arms long. The truck driver went back to look for tracks but found none.

[Ref. ff1:] "BIGFOOT FACT OF FANTASY" WEBSITE:
The website lists that on August 9, 1965, near Smithville, Ontario, a truck driver saw a 6-7 feet, long-armed Bigfoot weighing about 500 lb.
The website indicates that the source is "Chronological List of Bigfoot Sightings (1818-1980)" in The Bigfoot Casebook, Janet and Colin Bord, 1982, New York: Granada Publishing.
There is obviously no reason that this encounter appeared in a UFO book. There was no UFO and the description indicates nothing that suggests the creature had something to do with UFOs. The description highly suggests that the man saw some bear possibly in poor sighting conditions, possibly in the dark of night and shortly because he was likely driving. |
