JANUARY 1965, LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA, USA, A MAN:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

It seems that the March 1965 issue of the low credibility saucerist bulletin Saucer News told that some unspecified news agency published on January 23, 1965 a report from an industrial worker who did not want to be named and claimed to have seen the landing of two silent and nonenlightened UFOS in a forest area, at an unspecified date, at 05:40 a.m., apparently in the vicinity of Lynchburg, Virginia.

The man said that one craft had 6 meters in diameter and the other 24 meters in diameter. Three 75 centimeters beings came out of the smaller craft and approached him to 10 meters while he remained "frozen".

They "were of humanoid type except as for their small size and their strange eyes", the man said that they "looked right through me". These small men have uttered unintelligible sounds, then turned over towards the object from where they had come out.

A door opened, they entered in there, and the opening seemed to seal so that there was no evidence of it any more.

The encounter is supposed to have lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Narratives:

[Ref. cl1:] CORAL LORENZEN:

Coral Lorenzen indicates on a dubitative mode that the March 1965 issue of of Saucer News revealed without giving a date nor giving a source other than the mention that it came from a news agency on January 23, 1965, a story of occupant coming from a industrial worker who claimed to have been witness of the landing of two silent and nonenlightened UFOS in a forest area, apparently in the vicinity of Lynchburg, Virginia.

The man said that the two craft had 6 meters and 24 meters diameter.

Three 37-inches-tall creatures disembarked from the smaller craft and approached to 10 meters of the man who remained "frozen".

They were of humanoid type except as for their small size and their strange eyes: the man said that they "looked right through me". These small men have uttered unintelligibles sounds, then turned over towards the object from where they had come out.

A door opened, they entered ub there, and the opening seemed to seal so that there was no evidence of it any more.

The encounter is supposed to have lasted approximately thirty minutes and to have started at 05:40 p.m..

The ufologist comments that it is the size of the creatures and their strange eyes that prompted her to include this story in her in spite of the lack of precision, because these details are often mentioned in connection with "small men" in other countries.

[Ref. lo1:] CORAL AND JIM LORENZEN:

The authors indicate that an industrial worker who refused to be identified publicly claimed he witnessed the landing of two noiseless, unlighted UFOs which came down in a wooded area in the vicinity of Lynchburg, Virginia on January 23, 1964.

He said the craft were 20 and 80 feet in diameter.

Three creatures, 37 inches high, disembarked from the smaller ship and approached to within 12 yards of the man and he "froze" in his tracks.

They were humanoid types except for their small stature and strange eyes "which looked right through me," he said. The beings uttered unintelligible sounds, then turned around and walked back to the object from which they had emerged.

A door opened, they entered, and the opening appeared to seal itself so there was no evidence of an opening when it was closed.

The encounter purportedly lasted about 30 minutes, having begun at 05:40 p.m.

[Ref. pd1:] PIERRE DELVAL:

The author indicates that on January 19, 1965, in Lynchburg, in the State of Virginia, Americans saw three humanoids measuring 0.90 meters and emitting unintelligibles sounds come out of an apparatus.

[Ref. go1:] GODELIEVE VAN OVERMEIRE:

The ufologist indicates that at the beginning of January 1965, in Virginia, the USA, a witness said he saw the landing of two silent and nonenlightened UFOS going down in a wooded area close to Lynchburg. One was 24 meters in diameter, the other 6 meters. Three 75 centimetres tall creatures disembarked and approached to 10 meters the petrified witness.

They were of humanoid type and had strange eyes, "which looked right through me", the witness said. They emitted unintelligibles sounds, then swiveled and turned over towards the object from where they had come out. A door opened, they entered, the opening seemed seal so well that there remained no trace of it.

The encounter is supposed to have lasted approximately 30 minutes and to have started at 17:40.

Godelieve van Overmeire indicates that the source is Charles Bowen in "En quête des Humanoïdes", J'ai Lu, 1974, p. 200, 201.

[Ref. ud1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:

The website indicates that on January 23, 1964 at 17:40, in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA, there was a close encounter with an unidentified craft and humanoid occupants. Two objects, about 80 feet across, were observed by one experienced male witness in a forest for 30 minutes. The beings used an unintelligible language.

Points to consider:

A number of issues in the different versions appear:

This shows that a big mess was made of the original reports.

The first report seems to come from "Saucer News" and Coral Lorenzen implies that it is not a favorable point. With reason, since "Saucer News" was a small a saucerist bulletin edited by Gray Barker and his friend James Moseley, and the one like the other took these things rather lightly, acknowledging later to have often simply wanted to give their readers the stories than they wanted to hear, without more concern of serious.

Here, it to note that the witness is not named, the date not given, the exact place not indicated. The news agency that would be the real source is not named, nothing is not known as of a departure of the machines and so on, all things showing that credibility is amiss.
