Well-known Australien ufologist Bill Chalker, during his heard a number of quite unusual stories, not necessarily connected to UFOs, but sometimes ending in ufology catalogues all the same.
He indicates that in January, 1965, in Central Tasmania, Australia, a man who had hunted in the area for years was stalking deers near a marsh area when a "man in dark clothing" suddenly appeared "out of nowhere" beside him, and stayed with him for a walk of about 150 yards down to the marsh.
The hunter tried in vain to engage the man in conversation. He saw that the man seemed to have an incredibly old face marked by cracks and wrinkles, "like a skeleton with skin on it." He wore a big dark military coat with light epaulettes.
At the edge of the marsh, the hunter turned to the man and asked what he wanted, in vain. He then looked down, and was shocked to see that the man had no feet. Then the man vanished.
The next day, the hunter reportedly questioned an oldtimer who told him of a ghost with no legs, also in military style uniform and epaulettes. Amazingly, the encounter took place near an area called Leg-O-Man Marsh.
