It seems a woman named Pearl Kerwin who was a Reverend of some unorthodox church and an alleged psychic claimed that in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA, on March 7, 1959, at 09:30 a.m., she saw a man in a white helmet behind a hedge.
She went around the hedge to meet him and encountered a man in a white one-piece coverall type of suit covering even his feet, with bright blue trunks. The "helmet" was part of the suit, like a hood.
She yelled, and the man ran off very rapidly, apparently "skimming" over the ground. One John Gill who saw the man's face at 15 feet distance reportedly said there were two black holes where eyes should be.
It appears it was not the only time Pearl Kerwin was seeing things.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Silver Spring, Maryland, on March 7, 1959, at 09:30 a.m., seeing behind a hedge a man in a white "helmet," Rev. Pearl Kerwin went around the hedge to meet him; she encountered a man in a white one-piece coverall type of suit covering even his feet, with bright blue trunks. The "helmet" was part of the suit, like a hood. She yelled, and the man ran off very rapidly, apparently "skimming" over the ground. John Gill, who saw his face at 15 ft distance, said there were 2 black holes where eyes should be.
Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Eli Berzweig, Don Neill and Richard Hall for Nicap and Humcat 1959-3.
[Ref. dj1:] DONALD JOHNSON:
Donald Johnson indicates that on March 7, 1959 at 09:30 a.m., Rev. Pearl Kerwin of Silver Spring, Maryland saw a man wearing a white "helmet" behind a hedge, so she went around the hedge to meet him. She encountered a being wearing a white, one-piece coverall suit that covered even his feet, with bright blue trunks. The "helmet" was part of the suit, like a hood. She yelled and the man ran off very rapidly, apparently "skimming" over the ground. John Gill, who saw the creature's face at a distance of 15 feet, said there were two black holes where the eyes should be.
The sources are indicated as David F. Webb and Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case 1959-03, citing Eli Berzweig, Don Neill, and Richard Hall, NICAP.
"Eli Berzweig" probably spells "Eli Bernzweig", possibly the author of a book titled "A Death Interrupted". The books synposis is: "A fascinating story of a modern-day miracle. Writer David Elliott receives email from his deceased wife - Senta has paused her passage through the spirit realms to tell her love of 33 years about the next world. Are the stories true?"
Don Neill was a staff volunteer at NICAP at least in 1960.
A private radio and TV archiver indicates in a listing:

A psychic website includes self-quizz to test one's "psychic aptitudes." Question 4 and its answer read:
Psychic Aptitude Test Question 4: Pat Chalfant's husband, J.C. Chalfant, was once traveling in a car, late at night, from Los Angeles, California, to San Luis Obispo, California, with a psychic medium named Pearl Kerwin, when, out of the blue, Pearl asked the universe to provide a "demonstration" for the two of them while they were driving along... "coincidentally" enough, within just a few seconds, a demonstration of a specific type actually occurred. What kind of demonstration was it? According to J.C. Chalfant, shortly after asking for the demonstration, Pearl Kerwin looked up at the sky and pointed out a luminous UFO to J.C. - and the UFO then proceeded to streak straight across the sky, from the west, to just slightly past the midpoint of the horizon... it then streaked up at an angle of about 2 o'clock - without ever changing its staggeringly fast pace.... J.C. claimed that the UFO was going so fast that no ordinary airship could possibly have come anywhere near its speed... J.C. Chalfant was a tail gunner in B-25 bombers during World War II... thus, he knows quite a bit about "earthly" aircraft and their capabilities... |

The Arlington Metaphysical Chapel website indicates their many activities and that they host courses in "Chakra Empowerment and Creating Positive Auras", "Tarot: The 'Business' of Spirit, "Healing" and "Spiritual development".
The history information mentions that the Chapel's stained glass windows were donated by Mrs. Helen Saul and Rev. Pearl Kerwin.

Of course, claiming psychic powers and having unorthodox spiritual beliefs does not exclude strange encounters; but strange encounters can have commonplace explanation, this is why a serious investigation should have be conducted.
