JANUARY 1959, STRAFORD-ON-AVON, WARWICKSHIRE, U-K., LEONARD HEWINS:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

John D. Llewellyn published in 1967 an article in the Flying Saucer Review, from which two later summaries indicate that in Stratford-one-Avon, England, in January 1959, at 05:15 p.m., Leonard Hewins, of Tredington, saw a round fiery red object arrive and land 100 meters of him.

When this object stopped, the light turned off, and a blue fog of approximately 12 feet in height was formed around the object. In this fog, Hewins saw three tall characters of human appearance, with fair hair, blue coverall, who "appeared to step up, lifting themselves with a clumsy movement."

A fourth character appeared, and they sat down, two in the front, and two in the back of the object; which became glowing red again, rose in a noise of water fall, while a trail of "multi-colored very beautiful stars shot out from the rear".

The object then disappeared towards the west.

Hewins reported to have seen a similar object in 1930 and again in 1953.

Narratives:

[Ref. jv1:] JACQUES VALLEE:

In his catalogue of UFO landings, Jacques Vallée indicates that on January 1959 at 05:15 p.m., in Stratford-on-Avon, Great Britain, Leonard Hewins, of Tredington, saw a fiery, round object come down from the east and land 100 meters away. While a blue haze formed, three figures emerged from the object and seemed to sit down with clumsy movements. The witness was unable to move until the craft and its occupants took off swiftly, leaving a trail of stars.

Vallée indicates that his source is "FSR 67, 5."

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Stratford-on-Avon, England, on January 1959, at 05:15 p.m., Leonard Hewins saw a fiery round red object come in for a landing 100 yards away. When it stopped the light went out, and a blue haze about 12 ft high formed around the object. In this haze he saw 3 tall human like, blond haired figures wearing blue coveralls that "appeared to step up, lifting themselves with a clumsy movement." A 4th figure appeared and they seated themselves 2 in front and 2 in the rear; then the object began to glow red again, and rose with a trail of sparks and a rushing sound. A trail of multi-colored very beautiful stars shot out from the rear. He then heard a sound like rushing water, the same that you hear when pressing your ears in and out with your fingers when at a waterfall. The object then disappeared towards the west. The witness reported seeing a similar object in 1930 and again in 1953.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is John D. Llewellyn for Bufora and Humcat 1959-1.

[Ref. pb1:] PRIMEBASE:

The "PRIMEBASE" project by Robert Moore is an attempt to list all the U.K's "True UFO" reports.

The case record indicates that in January 1959 at 17:15 GMT in Stratford Upon-Avon, a UFO event occured for which the UFO shape claffidies as "Sunlike/Haze/+Entities." The notes indicate that a UFO descended, hovered, tall entities were seen in haze. The source is FSR V13, N5,M., the duration, size and investigator are unknown.

Points to consider:

Without the full information from the primary source, it is unwise to conclude anything from the insufficiently documented story.

Location note:

"Stratford-on-Avon" is not the town, but the District, in south Warwickshire, England, in which the town "Stratford-Upon-Avon" is located.
