One Todd Kittredge, of Van Nuys, California, USA, claimed encounters with Venusians on several occasions, apparently on or around July 16, 17, and 30, 1956.
US Air Force decided it was a hoax. A ufologist indicated what happened in one of these encounters, of July 17, 1956, at 04:20 hour of the morning or the afternoon, when he was allegedly awaked by a strong noise or a sonic boom and barking of his dogs.
He told that a gilded sphere then landed in his yard, from which three men came out, walking through the walls. They were approximately 1.90 meters tall, with long blonde hair and green one piece suits.
He went outside to meet them, and after exchanges of handshakes, they allegedly explained in mechanical voices that they came from Venus and were on mission to help Earthmen. But when one of his dogs snapped at one of the Venusian ones, they departed. Nothing seems to have survived of his other encounters.

US Air Force's Project Blue Book mentioned the case in their listing for the period, indicating that it was a hoax, with dates 16, 19, 30 July 1956:
[Ref. bh1:] ROBERT E. BARTHOLOMEW AND GEORGE S. HOWARD:
The authors indicate that on July 17, 1956, in Van Nuys, California, at 04:20 a.m., Todd Kittredge was awakened by a loud noise and his barking dogs and watched an eight-feet gold-colored sphere land in his yard.
Three men about six feet five inches tall with long blond hair and green one-piece outfits came out, and Todd shook hands with them. They said in mechanical-sounding voices that they hailed from Venus and were on a mission to help Earthlings. Todd claimed several later encounters.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Van Nuys, California, on June 17, 1956, in the afternoon, awakened by a sonic boom and his dog's barking, Todd Kittredge saw a golden ball, 8 feet in diameter descend into his front yard, splitting a tree.
Three men 6.5 feet tall emerged, walking through the wall; they had shoulder length blond hair and wore green one-piece coveralls with shoes attached. Their eyes looked as though made of stone.
When Kittredge came out, they shook hands with him and in mechanical sounding voices said they were from Venus, and were here to help earth people. When a dog snapped at one, they walked back in and the ball ascended.
Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Idabel Epperson for CSI.
It is very unfortunate that the improvement of mankind's situation was compromised by Mr. Kittredge's dog's unfriendly welcome to the Venusians.
