SEPTEMBER 1955, ARBESTHAL, BRUCK AN DER LEITHA, AUSTRIA, JOSEF WANDERKA:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Apparently emerged in the end of the 70's in a German sensationalist magazine, the story of one Josef Wanderka is quite a funny one.

Allegedly, he said he was driving his moped near Arbesthal, south of Vienna, Austria, one afternoon of September 1955. As he was distracted by daydreaming, he found himself inside a flying saucer: he quite simply drove up the ramp of the saucer posed across the street.

Curiously, other versions say that he entered the saucer by foot, and that it was in a clearing.

There was no equipment inside, just six handsome persons of human appearance, blonde hair and childish faces, wearing matt gray one-piece suits.

The witness of course apologized for the intrusion.

There are then two different versions of the story.

In the first one, these beings spoke to him in perfect German; they explained that they came from "the higher point of Cassiopeia", and they would like to know how the moped's engine functioned.

Unfortunately the witness, who feared that the aliens might have tendencies of political totalitarism, lengthily lectured them about the misdeeds of the Nazis. The Cassiopeians were apparently bored by the antifascist sermon and kicked him out of their saucer.

The other version is quite different:

The saucer is not in the middle of the street but in a clearing in a forest. He does not enter the saucer by distraction while riding his moped, but by foot, and the aliens are not at all interested in the moped. Far from being bored by his socialist speech, they are so moved that they start to weep.

This second version also indicates that Wanderka had already seen a flying cigar in the sky in 1954, saw UFOs in the sky in 1973 and 1974 again, and that he was an anti-fascist group member and thus was often unemployed.

1954-1975, Austria, Joseph Wanderka, politics in the UFO

Joseph Wanderka is member of an antifascist group and consequently often unemployed. He spends his time in long trips with his moped in the surroundings of Vienna.

1954. during one of his trips, Wanderka notices a shining missile in the form of cigar of the dimension of an airliner in the sky on Vienna.

1955. Wanderka rides in the south of Vienna, close to the location Arbesthal on a forest way, and notices a metallic reflection shining through the vegetation. By curiosity, he rides in this direction, arrived in a clearing, he sees a metallic body in the shape of a disc of approximately 2.5 meters height and 10 to 12 meters of width in the grass of the meadow. The object does not have superstructures, no visible windows, on the external smooth lens-shaped surface appear neither superstructures, neither visible windows nor openings. The only opening is square, it is a two meters broad door, to which an evacuation ramp of approximately 4 meters is leading. Since the interior of the object is lit and invites to enter, Wanderka gathers his courage and enters there by the ramp.

Inside, 6 people who obviously already await him, all approximately 1.80 meters tall, with smooth and beautiful faces, as one finds it on Earth only in children. They carry matt gray overalls, without structures of fabric, neither joints, nor pockets. Shoes and gloves are linked to the overalls. They have half-long fair hair, the neck rises from a collar. The interior is enlightened "indirectly" of a gentle yellowish light, without visible source of light. Wanderka cannot see any reinforcement, perhaps because the strangers stand before. A little astonished in front of these six people, he appologized for his intrusion, and gives his name and his address. The UFO occupants: "we come, according to terrestrial standards, from the higher top from Cassiopeia." Astonished, Wanderka then asks them how they can master his language and the answer is: "because we learned it." Their voices are those of an adult woman with a clear voice and an accent with pleasant sonorities.

As a good Socialist, Wanderka asks the extraterrestrial which kind of a social regime rules their planet, not without explaining that on Earth, social injustice reigns because of a privileged ruling class who creates a Paradise for itself, while the working masses of the people are disadvantaged by wage slavery. The UFO occupants listen attentively, patiently, and then make these statements: "In our system of State there are no more differences, we consider the forme of society on the Earth to be long obsolete." Filled with enthusiasm by this extraterrestrial support of his political opinions, Wanderka requests from the crew of the spacecraft that they intervene on Earth and to eliminate the major problems. He mentions the misery of the country, the epidemics and the famines which all are caused by social injustice in his opinion.

However, to his astonishment, the crew states: "As a man of the Earth, you must engage such action yourself. We did not at all come to interfere in the terrestrial matters. As an inhabitant of the Earth, you must know that such a revolution of the entire social structures of the Earth can be started. You must devote yourself to that." Despaired on the rejection of what he had hoped for, Wanderka argues about the powers of the nation leaders, the dominant class, the corrupted politicians who only help the privileged class and on Adolf Hitler who was given control by the Big Capital. The intensity and the passion of Wanderka's plea moved the extraterrestrials so much that they started to weep. Wanderka is then so uneasy that he quickly returns to his moped. The extraterrestrials answer his goodby by a reverence.

1973, June. After a nervous crisis, Wanderka is at the cardiac service of the Hanusch hospital in Vienna. He awakes in the night around 01.00 hours, and goes to the window, to take some fresh air, he looks at the night sky. After a few minutes, he sees a brilliant white light rise, following a vertical trajectory, then a perfect arc, then flying in a horizontally. After other seconds of observation, the shining light becomes a twinkling red light, until it disappears.

1975. Wanderka is on holiday in St. Corona in Lower Austria, where he wanders in the winter landscape with a friend. He sees a glazing reflection shining particularly well in the sunlight. Carefully looking at the sky he sees five objects in the white clouds there. He grabs his camera, takes a photograph. Then, the objects already disappeared again.

[Ref. go1:] GODELIEVE VAN OVERMEIRE:

The Belgian ufologist indicates that in 1954, in Vienna in Austria, Joseph Wanderka was member of an antifascist group and thus was often unemployed. He had a motor cycle and walked in the surroundings of Vienna, when he saw a shining object, in the shape of a cigar and the size of an airliner.

In 1955, in the south of Vienna, Wanderka was motorcycling in a place called Arbesthal and skirted a forest road when he noticed something very shining through trees and, curious, continued by foot, motorcycle in the hand, and he found in a metallic saucer, 2.50 meters in height by 10 to 12 meters in width in a grassy clearing.

The machine was smooth on the circumference, metallic, and no window appeared there, but it however had a square opening of 2 meters width from which a 4 meters long exit ramp came out. Inside, all was lit, and Wanderka gathered his courage and crossed the ramp.

Inside were 6 people, all approximately 1.80 m tall, with beautiful smooth faces like those of children, carrying matt gray smooth overall showing no fabric weaving, neither buttons nor other seams, comprizing the boots and the gloves, the whole in only one piece.

These people were fair with semi-long hair. Around the neck, the collar of the overalls was round and without opening.

There was an indirect lighting for he did not see any lamp. He did not see any structure and supposed that a wall had to be behind the people.

A little surprised to be vis-a-vis these people, Wanderka apologized for his intrusion, gave his name and his address.

A person of the group answered to him: "According to the Earth standards, we are from somewhere near Cassiopeia."

Wanderka asked them how they could speak German so well, and the answer was "we learned it".

The voice was almost female, like that of certain women of ripe age, but they however had a slightly foreign accent.

As a good Socialist, Wanderka their aked what they came for, after having explained the political system in his country. The extraterrestrials told that there is no more calss struggle on their home. Wanderka asked whether they could intervene to change certain things on the Earth. To his amazement, they answered: "You, people of the Earth, must solve your problems all alone".

Wanderka their then described the situation in the world, the famine in certain countries, the social injustice in his country, in erms so moving that the extraterrestrials started to weep.

"Moved to see their sorrow, Wanderka does not know what to do any more, he tells them goodbye, the extraterrestrial ones answer by a small reverence. Wanderka picks up his moped and goes away."

[Ref. nc1:] NIGEL CAWTHORNE:

Nigel Cawthorne (www.nigel-cawthorne.com) is a writer of about 80 books of fiction and non-fiction, a contributor to big newspapers, and an editor. Among his books are World's Greatest Royal Scandals, World's Greatest Political Scandals, World's Greatest Cults, World's Worst Atrocities, World's Greatest Serial Killers, and World's Greatest Alien Abductions.

The author indicates in the latter book that in September 1955, Josef Wanderka, aged 27, was riding his moped down a road in Austria when he inadvertently rode straight up the ramp of a flying saucer.

He apologized profusely to the occupants, aliens were of the "Nordic" type, tall with blue eyes and blonde hair, "who explained – in perfect German, naturally –" that they were from the top point of Casseopeia. Although plainly adept at interstellar travel - author's irony - they were fascinated by his moped and wanted to know how the engine worked.

Wanderka feared that they might be harbouring totalitarian tendencies, as Austria had been de-Nazified rather recently, he launched into an anti-fascist diatribe, but the aliens evidently found this "so boring that they kicked him out of their flying saucer without subjecting him to an invasive medical examination."

[Ref. ww1:] WERNER WALTER:

Werner Walter exposes his views about German ufology, and mentions that in the end the Seventies, one "contactee" coming from Vienna of the name of Josef Wanderka had obtained a broad diffusion by the Mysteria magazine, this is why Michael Hesemann from Neuss had written on March 6, 1980 a reader's letter to that magazine proving that very early he was a "contactee" believer: "The case of the Wanderka contact really makes a good impression. I do not understand the negative criticisms. The reality of the contacts with Planetarians should be recognized of all the readers of Mysteria."

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Vienna, Austria, on late August, 1955, at 1500, Josef Wanderka was riding his motorcycle through a wooded area, when he encountered a metallic disc with a door and ramp on the ground on a clearing. The witness felt an impulse to ride into the craft. Inside he found himself in a room lit by a soft uniform light. He also encountered five to six beings. These beings were human like with beautiful child like faces, fair medium hair, and with no visible sex difference. They wore dull gray loose, seamless one-piece overalls and mittens. The beings communicated with the witness in perfect German and seemed concerned about the conditions on earth. They also mentioned that they were from the constellation known as Cassiopeia.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Thomas E. Bullard, UFO Abductions The Measure of A Mystery.

[Ref. cj1:] "THE COSMIC JOKER" WEBSITE:

The web site indicates that a CE3 case in Austria started when Austrian Josef Wanderka rode his moped through countryside one afternoon in 1957. He let his thoughts wander and accidentally drove straight up the ramp of a flying saucer parked across the road.

The interior of the craft was completely bare, there was no sign of navigational controls or even seats, but there were six tall beings with child-like faces who claimed to be from "the top of Cassiopeia".

These Cassiopeians brushed aside Wanderka's apologies and clustered around his moped, apparently fascinated by its engine, and they asked him to explain how it worked.

Unfortunately, Wanderka got sidetracked into delivering a lengthy denunciation of the Nazis; it seemed to rather bore the aliens, so they suggested he should form a movement to promote world peace and asked him to leave.

This website indicates that in September 1955, Josef Wanderka noticed a UFO during a travel by a forest in the south of Vienna. He met six persons, who talked to him in his language. They came, from terrestrial perspective, from the "highest summit of Cassiopeia" and they do not want to mix into terrestrial affairs.

Points to consider:

Why should anyone believe that there is any truth in this silly story?
