LATE JULY 1955, NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK, USA, TWO FAMILIES:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

In a catalogue of cases of interference between UFOs and vehicles, Dr. Mark Rodeghier, CUFOS director, indicates that according to this group of ufology, late in July, 1955, about 08:00 p.m., near Niagara Falls, New York, USA, two families were having a picnic on the shore of Lake Erie.

A UFO rose out of the water and approached them, moving in swoops like a pendulum. The UFO was 100 feet in diameter and silvery-colored. They ran to their cars to escape, but the cars would nit start.

The UFO came within 30 feet and the witnesses saw four humanoids with white heads inside, wearing black robes. The UFO then went back over the lake and rose up vertically.

[Ref. mr1:] MARK RODEGHIER:

In a catalogue, Mark Rodeghier indicates that late in July, 1955, about 2000, USA, near Niagara Falls, New York, two families were having a picnic on the shore of Lake Erie.

A UFO rose out of the water and approached them, moving in swoops like a pendulum. It was 100 feet in diameter and silvery-colored. They ran to their cars to escape, but the cars wouldn't start.

The UFO came within 30 feet and witnesses saw four humanoids with white heads inside, wearing black robes. The UFO then went back over the lake and rose up vertically.

The source is indicated as: CUFOS.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Niagara Falls, New York, on late July, 1955, at 2000, two families picnicking on the shore of Lake Erie watched a large silvery object rise out of the water and approach them using pendulum like movements. They all ran to their cars to leave but the vehicles would not start. The object got to within 30 feet of the witnesses and they were all able to see four humanoids with white heads and wearing black robes, inside the object. The object then flew back over the lake, rose vertically, and left.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Mark Rodeghier, UFO Reports Involving Vehicle Interference.

Points to consider:

Dr. Mark Rodeghier has a B.S. in Astrophysics and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees, both in Sociology and works as a consultant in statistical analysis and survey research. He has been active in ufology since 1974 in a variety of topics, including vehicle interference cases, abduction cases, especially the psychology and sociology of abduction experiencers, physical trace events, scientists' beliefs about the UFO phenomenon, and the Roswell incident.

He is the associate editor of the Journal of UFO Studies and a consulting editor of the Journal of Scientific Exploration, which web site hosts his summary of this case, and is since 1986 the scientific director and president of the Center for UFO Studies (www.cufos.org), which he indicates is the source for this case.

His summary here, appearing in a peer reviewed professional scientific journal paper, seems to provide a very rare case of a UFO and its occupants seen at the very close distance of 10 meters by two group of people, i.e., multiple witnesses.

Unfortunately, the summary is extremely meager, no primary source is indicated, no investigation report is mentioned nor available to me, so it might be nothing more that the story told by one person an not investigated; which makes it an apparent high strangeness case with no apparent credibility.
