Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Published apparently by Brazilian ufologists Jader U. Pereira and Felipe Machado Carrion, the case of Camaqua, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, January 1, 1955, at 00:05 a.m., is said to have five witnesses: Joao Rodel, owner of a factory called Importadora Auto-Globo-Globo, his wife, their two children and an employee.

These people were fished in a local lagoon when an object in the shape of a disc, approximately 30 meters in diameter, suddenly came down and hovered at approximately 200 meters of altitude. This disc then descended to approximately one meter above the ground, illuminating its surroundings, and apparently agitating the grass underneath.

In light coming from a cupola of the disc, a humanoid figure then appeared, approximately 1.80 meters tall.

The light then disappears, and only a vertical cylindrical beam of light stayed, approximately 80 meters in length, and 50 centimeters in diameter.

Shortly afterwards, the humanoid is seen again. He carried a kind of flashlight and seemed to look at the ground below, towards the waters on the two sides of the craft. Then, he reinstates the craft by or through this beam of light.

A little later the disc emitted an oblique beam of light towards the sky, and then a small sphere, approximately 1.50 meters in diameter, came out of the disc and hovered above the water. A few minutes later, a second sphere came out, and these two spheres then approached the witnesses who became frightened and left the area.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Camaqua, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on January 1, 1955, at 0005A, 5 witnesses, Joao Rodel, owner of a factory called Importadora Auto-Globo, his wife, his 2 children and an employee were fishing at a local lagoon when suddenly a disc-shaped object about 30 meters in diameter descended and hovered at about 200 meters in altitude. The disc then descends to about a meter from the ground. It brightly illuminates its surroundings and the grass seems agitated under it. A figure is then seen within the light on the cupola, is about 1.80m in height. The light then disappears and only a cylindrical shaped light remains about 80m in height and 50cm in diameter. Soon the humanoid appears again. He is carrying some kind of flashlight and seems to look down at the ground, apparently looking at the water on both sides of the UFO. He then re-enters the UFO through the vertical beam of light. Soon after, the disc emits an oblique beam of light towards the sky and then a small sphere (1.50m in diameter) exits the disc and hovers over the water. A few minutes later a second sphere goes out. These two spheres then approached the witnesses who become frightened and leave the area.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Jader Pereira and Carrion 1968.

Points to consider:

This is an very interesting report, with several witnesses apparently, of a craft that does not match any commonplace craft from our planet nor some natural phenomenon.

It deserved a better documentation however, some basic information is missing, for example, nothing is known on the date it was reported, by whom, when, it is not known whether the witnesses were all interrogated, separately or not, or whether it was only something told in some newspaper.

In the end were are left with a high strangeness case, but unfortunately, no information to asses its credibility.
