Saucer enthusiast and writer Harold Wilkins was not very convinced himself when he quoted from the Buffalo Evening News for August 27, 1952 the story about "A man at Lamberton", Northern Carolina, USA, saying a "thing 8 feet long and 6 feet wide landed in his yard after knocking bricks off his chimney."
The newspaper adds that "a man about 2 feet 6 inches tall came out and stood by the thing" and that the unnamed witness asked him if he was hurt, but the little man "scrambled in, and it went away with a whistle and a whiff, and loud noise."
The newspaper added that "Three saucers are known to have landed, and one of the inmates [sic], stepping out, died on his own doorstep. The space visitors can't get acclimatized to our atmosphere."
With some editing, this later became a UFO landing case of Jacques Vallée's catalogue.

[Ref. hw1:] HAROLD T. WILKINS:
Wilkins says he offers "no comment" to this story:
"Buffalo Evening News, August 27, 1952: A man at Lamberton, N.C., says a thing 8 feet long and 6 feet wide, landed in his yard after knocking bricks off his chimney. A man about 2 feet 6 inches tall came out and stood by the thing. 'I asked him if he was hurt. He scrambled in, and it went away with a whistle and a whiff, and loud noise'."
"Three saucers are known to have landed, and one of the inmates, stepping out, died on his own doorstep. The space visitors can't get acclimatized to our atmosphere."
[Ref. jv1:] JACQUES VALLEE:
In his catalogue of UFO landings, Jacques Vallée indicates that on August 27, 1952, in Lamberton, North Carolina, a saucer-shaped craft, 3 by 2 meters, landed on the witness's property after hitting a chimney. A little man, about 70 cm tall, emerged and was asked whether he was hurt, but he did not answer. The craft took off with a whistling sound.
Vallée indicates that his source is "Wilkins A 268."
[Ref. jb1:] JEROME BEAU:
Jerome Beau indicates that on August 27, 1952 in Lamberton, North Carolina, a saucer-shaped craft, 3 meters out of 2, landed on the witness' property after hitting a chimney. A little man of approximately 70 cm in height emerged and did not answer when it was asked to him whether it is wounded. The craft took off in a whistling sound.
Jérôme Beau indicates that his source is "Wilkins A. 268".
Once again, Jacques Vallée took a story that even the very eager Wilkins took with a grain of salt, and made a case of UFO landing out of a ridiculous newspaper article, by subtle alterations and by removing all the obviously laughable angles from his own summary.
