Spanish author Iker Jimenez told in 2001 zhat one early morning of August 1947, three residents of Vegas de Coria , Julián Sendín, Marcelo Martín and Fausto Sánchez, were returning from Salamanca to Nuñomoral through the steep mountains of the Hurdes.
These years were a black market period, there were many people who needed to resort to smuggling, they carried all kinds of goods: food, animals, drinks... The three men walked carrying the bags where they had packed the goods.
A few hours before, the morning was over and they were only two kilometers away from the Rubiaco farm, when suddenly a resounding sound was heard that resembled the hubbub produced by many musical instruments playing disorderly. They also thought they heard voices from people singing and dancing.
The three companions began to worry when they realized that this sound approached them. Suddenly, everyone was silent, the bags fell to the ground and they could not take one more step.
On the way, in front of them and walking in their direction, a gigantic figure of more than two meters in height approached, it was headless and moved his arms like a soldier and wore a white shirt with a black ribbon around his neck and dark legs. The music seemed to come from his strange body.
Trembling with fear, they knelt on the ground and began to pray for this beheaded strange being to go by by without being aware of their presence. That is what happened, the giant barely passed five meters away from the witnesses without paying attention and he strode away from them.
Once they stopped hearing the sound, they found that this creature had disappeared, having taken the bags they were loaded with, and they accelerated their march to quickly return to Vegas de Coria.
They say that since then, they do not go out at night.

Albert Rosales indicates that in August 1947, in Arrolaguetre, Rubiaco, Spain, in the night, four men, including Julian Sendin Martin were returning back to their vi11age carri1ng contraband foodstuffs and bad stopped for a brief rest on an isolated field. Suddenly the men began to hear what appeared to be the sounds of hundreds of voices chanting or murmuring together at the same lime, they could also hear the sound of hands clapping. ft soon became a cacophony of unintelligible sounds. The men looked around and sported a tremendously tall figure approaching their location on a nearby field.
The bizarre figure seemed to swing its arms like a soldier. Even stranger, the bizarre figure was wearing a white shirt with a black stripe around the neck area and it appeared to be headless. The three stunned men watched as the headless giant walked by only about 5 meters of them, totally ignoring them. It disappeared quickly into the distance taking great strides as it did so.
Strangely the loud cacophony of sounds seemed to originate from it.

The Decapitate of the HurdesIt was one of the many nights in which the starry mantle hid the eternal, dense, Hurdes, wild and beautiful place. Periods when most Hurdans survived what was called Estraperlo, an activity that forced Hurdans to fish at night. Julián Sendín was one of the people forced by the difficult period of carrying bags of flour and wheat on the night of the Hurdes, but he did not know that his life was going to change one night in August 1947. They were preparing to return by steep roads on the outskirts of the territory of Salamanca, towards the Rubiaco farm, when something interrupted the immense calmness of the darkness of the mountain. Sendín recounted how the echo of voices and strange sounds that resonated, which were in principle lost in the immensity of the place, were getting closer and closer to where he and his two companions were. Terrified by the frightening idea that they were guards who had dared to spend the night watching these nocturnal activities, they hid in the undergrowth of the place, in total silence. The voices and noises seemed closer, but the reality was even more terrifying. In the middle of the road, a huge being, that can only be described as something or someone over two meters tall, looked like a luminous, terrifying and strange entity that walked in unnatural manner. The sounds seemed to follow this terrifying image as it slowly moved away from the smuggler hiding in the brush, making seconds last as if they were hours. But there was something even more disturbing in this strange character: despite his height of more than two meters, he had no head and showed the palm of his motionless hands while his footsteps seemed artificial. The three companions could not give credit to what they saw and were astonished, panting until that figure was lost in the darkness of the night and the noises ceased. The minutes passed until one of them dared to speak. They gathered all their belongings and left from there as a soul leading to the devil. They promised not to walk on this area at night and would never forget the nightmare they lived for countless seconds in the middle of the Hurdan landscape. Since then, various witnesses have claimed to have seen something similar in the surrounding area. Even the Hurdanos themselves advise to enjoy the beautiful landscape in the light of day. And it is true that one who would dare to cross at night the mysterious paths of this magical region risks the cold and terrifying possibility of meeting the Descabezado of Rubiaco. |
I am totally unable to give an explanation to this story: however its credibility is totally unknown to me.
