Someone reported by the web to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), in the 2000's, that in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on July 7, 1947, early in the morning, he and his girlfriend were camping in the backyard in the western end of the town, when he noticed an object high in the sky traveling from horizon to horizon like a satellite except it was "read" [sic, "red"?] and traveling somewhat faster and moving side to side in a wave motion, not a fixed pattern but not exactly random either.
It went much slower than a meteor. The witnesses stood up from their cots to better watch the skies, and a short time later they saw a disc-shaped object with red lights on its perimeter from a distance of about two miles. It seemed to be moving above the trees near the Missouri River or following the river itself, not quite hovering but moving slowly while tipping on its sides and demonstrating to the witnesses that this was something very unusual.
They watched it head south, until they lost it below the trees. They remained alert and debated if they should go to the Lewis and Clark monument, a park on the Bluffs overlooking Council Bluffs and Omaha. About 5 to 10 minutes later the object flew almost directly over their heads, about a block away, now going north and still just above treetop level. They lost sight of it and decided to drive up to the park.
On the way there, they were driving through Big Lake Park, and the main witness was keeping watch, when he saw the object coming in their direction, still at treetop level. They had the eerie feeling that it was coming for them. They panicked, he wanted to hide under the train bridge near the tennis court and his girlfriend stopped the car about 50 yards short or the bridge. They ran to and under the bridge to hide.
The witness states that he had never experienced that kind of fear before or since. However they felt compelled to peek out and see more of the incredible object, so they did. It was hovering above a large cottonwood tree near the tennis courts about 50 to 75 yards away from them. The disc looked about 100 feet in diameter with large red rectangular lights flashing in sequence around its edge which seemed to be about 15 feet thick. As they watched, frozen in awe and fear, it dipped its edge while hovering; one of the red lights went out and in its place a beam of light shot out of it and shined directly on the witnesses.
The next thing either of them remembers is that it was now daylight and they were back in the car driving towards their original destination of the Lewis and Clark Monument, They called the police and they said they had a report of something in Missouri Valley about 20 miles to the north. Animals were behaving strangely, either they were oddly quiet or behaving wildly. When they drove back through Big Lake Park there were people there who said they saw nothing.
This was then included in Albert Rosales' CE3 catalogue with the comment that it must be "a definite unexplored abduction event at the dawn of the modern era of UFOs."

Albert Rosales says that the source is http://mufoncms.com
He comments that this must be "a definite unexplored abduction event at the dawn of the modern era of UFOs."
The first issue is the credibility of the report. This was reported by the Web to the MUFON ufology group, so the credibility is unknown. The case was obviously recorded but not investigated.
The second issue is that, though this is certainly a high strangeness story, no UFO occupant was seen. Deciding that in the apparent missing time period reported, an "abduction" took place, is only speculation.
On a side note, I think the precision of the date is to be taken with a grain of salt.
