A researcher of weird animals, Ken Coon apparently interviewed a shop owner who wished to remains anonymous and told that in Borrego Sink, California, USA, a night in 1939, while prospecting alone in the desolate area, he was confronted by a pack of hairy, two legged creatures covered with silvery white hair or fur, and glowing red colored eyes.
The creatures surrounded his camp and menaced him for some time but were apparently kept at distance by the blazing campfire.

[Ref. mm1:] MIKE MARINACCI:
The author indicates that in California, a store owner who wished to remain anonymous told that he had seen Sasquatches in the tangle of dry gulches known as Borrego Sink.
The man told that he was prospecting around the area back in 1939, and while camping alone at night, he was confronted by a pack of hairy, two-legged creatures, covered with white or silver fur. They had red eyes that glowed in the dark.
They surrounded his camp and menaced him for some time, but were frightened by his blazing campfire and kept their distance.
The author indicates that the story surfaced thanks to Southern California Bigfoot expert Ken Coon who once interviewed the man.
[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Borrego Sink, California, in 1939, at night, a man prospecting alone in a desolate area was confronted one night by a pack of hairy, two legged creatures covered with silvery white hair or fur, and glowing red colored eyes. The creatures surrounded his camp and menaced him for some time but were apparently kept at bay by the blazing campfire.
The source is indicated as "Mike Marinacci, Mysterious California quoting Ken Coon."
Ken Coon was a former deputy sheriff for Los Angeles County, California, USA, who collected many stories of allegedly strange animals sightings during the 1960s and 1970s in Southern California. He used to call some of theses "Sandpeople" or "Zoobies".
His collected stories were later used by various authors such as Warren Smith and Mike Marinacci, and generally not in a ufology context but in a "Bigfoot", cryptozoology context.
In this case of course the description is very insufficient, it is possible that the creatures, likely just wild animals, seemed to "have two legs" because the rear legs would have been in the dark, or because they were owls. The "glowing red" eyes are nothing extraordinary since many animals have eyes that would reflect the flames of a campfire.
Whatever the creatures were, there is absolutely no reason to classify them as UFO occupants.
Left: Long-Eared Owl Asio Otus, from Southern California, sparsely spread. Note the "glowing red eyes", the "two leggs" and the "white or silver fur". |
