Paranormal author Lynn Picknett, inpirer of the "Da Vinci Code", told that in Roseberry Topping, North York, U-K., in August 1939, in the afternoon, a 10-year old boy and his mother were taking a walk on a local hill when they heard a strange humming sound under their feet, which seemed to be vibrating.
The scared mother grabbed her son's hand and pulled him across the heather, but in their haste, he fell and hurt his ankle. As his mother knelt down to check, there was a strong smell of something burning, like burnt paper.
Then a big white globe of light suddenly appeared from nowhere in the middle of the field. It did not move at first but just sat on the heather about 4 or 5 meters away. They estimated it was about 2 meters across.
Then, two little men appeared on the brow of the hill. Even though they were about 30 meters away, the witnesses saw that they were tiny, about 3 feet in height. They wore some kind of shiny material, a sort of light greenish color, and had close-fitting helmets made of similar kind of material.
The little men were jabbering away to each other in high-pitched voices. They then looked across at the witnesses, pointed them, getting excited. The globe of light then moved closer to the witnesses, and the mother, now terrified began to pray. The light rolled right around them very slow, then stopped and the humming sound got louder.
Then suddenly everything stopped. The humming noise and vibrating disappeared and the globe of light and the little men seemed to dematerialize. Both witnesses got up, and as they made their slow and painful progress across the field to the path, they distinctly heard some weird high-pitched laughter, which seemed to come from the air. Then there was a sudden, unnaturally complete stillness.
Both witnesses felt very tired, disoriented and lost as they stumbled around the field for about half an hour. Soon, inexplicably they found themselves back in the path totally unaware how they got there.
Lynn Picknett apparently got this report from the son.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Roseberry Topping, Guisborough, England, in August 1939, in the afternoon, 10-year old "Jack Quinn" and his mother were taking a walk on a local hill when they heard a strange humming sound under their feet, which seemed to be vibrating. The sphere of light did not move at first, it just sat on the heather about 4 or 5 yards away. They estimated it to have been about 6 feet across. Then two little men appeared on the brow of the hill. Even though they were about 30 yards away, the witnesses could see that they were tiny, about 3 ft in height. [Ref. js1:] JEAN SIDER:
The author indicates that in the case of August 1939, the afternoon, in Guisborough, Cleveland, England, Lynn Picknett, author of the source, claims to have met one of the two witnesses, the son, who had become a retired businessman in Newcastle-on-Tyne. Several years before the publication of his book, Picknett managed to meet him while visiting his aunt, and it is on this occasion that he obtained from him the narration of his experience; which was published as follows:
"Jack Quinn (pseudonym), ten years old, walks with his mother in a field located on a local hill which forms part of a country sector called Roseberry Topping. Both suddenly perceive a weird buzzing noise under their feet, which seems to be that of a vibration. Thrown into a panic, the mother takes her son by the hand and takes him in bushes, but in their haste Jack fall and twists an ankle. An odor of burning paper appears and as his mother seeks to find its cause, a large sphere of light suddenly appears out of nowhere, in the full middle of the field. It hovers above the bushes at four or five yards of the undergrowth, and is estimated of a width of approximately six feet. Then two small men appear at the top of the hill. In spite that they are within thirty yards of the witnesses, the latter can see that they are very small since they are approximately three feet tall (0,90 m). Each one of them is wearing a kind of outfit and a helmet which emit a greenish luminosity. They chatter between themselves with high pitched voices. Then they look at the witnesses, pointing at them, very excited. The sphere of light comes to very close to Jack and its mother, who are so terrified that she starts to scream. The ball rolls very slowly around them, then it stops, the buzzing sound becoming louding. And suddenly, all is finished. The buzzing sound, the vibration, the luminous sphere and the small men, all that disappears as by magic. The mother and the son stand up and hasten to flee as fast as possible and, doing this, they distinctly hear a yelling laughter which appears to come from abovehead. Then a sudden calm seizes them, but they feel very tired. Moreover, they are somewhat so much disorientated that they need much time to find their way. Soon, in an unexplainable manner, they found themselves on the correct way, without knowing how they arrived there."
"Between the field and the place where they emerge on the way of their home, there are several hundreds of yards whose crossing was not memorized. In addition, they realize that it is 18:30, a very late hour, too late for Mr. Quinn father who, anxious not to see his wife and her son return, had started to alert neighbors to make a search."
Jean Sider indicates that the source is "Picknett, pp. 38-42, according to own investigation to Mrs 'Quinn's son".
Jean Sider comments that a "very probable abduction is to be considered, for there is obviously a missing time."
Born in England, Lynn Picknett (www.picknettprince.com), author and lecturer, writes on the paranormal, the supernatural, ghosts, historical and religious mysteries like "the shroud of Turin." She is the co-author with Clive Prince, of "The Templars Revelation" which inspired Dan Brown for "The Da Vinci Code". She thinks that "New Age tries to set up a religious syncretism (a global religion) for a new world order based on old Egyptian cults."
