A CE3 catalog on the Web indicates that in August 1930, in Leeds Point, New Jersey, USA, a "Flying humanoid - Jersey Devil" was seen, according to the anomalies reference book by George M. Eberhart in 1980.
The source is indicated as: "Eberhart, George M., A Geo-Bibliography of Anomalies, Greenwood Press, Westport, 1980, ISBN:0-313-21337-2".
Points to consider:
If George M. Eberhart liste this, then there must be something in contemporary sources or later sources about it; he did not invent it. However, I found nothing about it in the Press of the time and place. There may be a date error in [ud1], though, and the case could be for example this one, of July 1930.
In any case, this has likely nothing to do with UFOs or UFO occupants. The data is so scarce that no comment is possible, except for to suggest a reading of the Jersey Devils aka Leeds DEvil cases in this catalog for year 1909 in the US.
