The HUMCAT catalog by Ted Bloecher and David Webb, in the 1970's, recorded a case apparently coming from ufologist George D. Fawcett, that allegedly occurred in May 1930 in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA,
In broad daylight, a top-shaped object, dark and 40 feet wide, landed in a garden area on Pearson Street. The object appeared to be hollow, and inside it, through a "window," Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Rankin and their daughters, Katherine and Mary, were startled to see the head and shoulders of a figure who was wearing a dark tight-fitting outfit and helmet.
The object had the power to move perpendicularly and horizontally. Five or ten minutes later the object ascended straight up quietly and flew away.
The two Rankin daughters revealed their sighting to radio and television personnel in 1975.

The object appeared to be hollow inside, and they were startled to see the head and shoulders of an occupant inside, through a "window," he wore a dark tight fitting garment and a tight-fitting head cover or helmet. They watched for 5-10 minutes, when the object lifted straight up and moved off soundlessly. The object had the power to move perpendicularly and horizontally. [Ref. js1:] JEAN SIDER:
The author indicates that in May 1930, during the day, in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, there was a close encounter of the third kind.
He indicates that Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Rankin, with their daughters Katherine and Mary, observed in broad daylight an object in the form of a top, black in color, about forty feet wide ie twelve meters; which landed in their garden on Pearson Street. The object seemed hollow inside because the witnesses were in a position to see through a window the head and shoulders of an occupant.
This occupant wore a clingy garment and a kind of helmet. The witnesses could observe this for five to ten minutes, then the object took off vertically and then moved horizontally.
The two sisters had hidden their sighting for many years, only revealing it in 1975.
Jean Sider indicates as source "Rosales, who quotes George D. Fawcett, sap."
He commented that G. D. Fawcett is considered a serious researcher, author of many writings, but that he would have liked to know in which writing this report is. He adds that a UFO landing in a garden is certainly not for "making repairs."
