Ufologist Michael Swords is reported to have collected the following story from ufologist John Timmerman, and he reportedly noted it in a collection of cases from the witness reports file at the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS).
The witness was a young boy at the time of the incident. He reportedly saw an object in the shape of hovercraft near the ground. A ladder would have been extended to the ground and two little men in a brilliant outfit came out.
One of them allegedly directed an instrument towards the child, which caused him to lose consciousness.
This is supposed to have happened in 1930 in Vernonia, Oregon, USA. The witness allegedly agreed to tell these snippets of his story to an investigator, probably John Timmerman, "a long time" after his alleged experience.

[Ref. js1:] JEAN SIDER:
The author indicates that in 1930 at an unknown date, in the daytime, in Vernonia, Oregon, USA, there was a close encounter of the third or fourth kind.
He indicates that it was long after his observation that the witness who was only a young boy at the time of the facts had agreed to tell a few snippets to an investigator.
He says the child saw a hovercraft-like object near the ground. A ladder spread to the ground and two little men in shining one-piece outfits came out. One of them pointed an instrument towards the child; which caused him to lose consciousness.
He comments that the case is virtually identical to that of 1893 in Australia cited in a previous chapter of his book, and he suggests that it was a CE4.
He adds that Michael Swords has a reputation as a rigorous researcher well established among his American peers.
Jean Sider also adds that there are similarities with the case of Valensole in France in July 1965.
[Ref. pr1:] PETER ROGERSON:
1930. Day.VERONICA [sic] (OREGON : USA) A child saw a disc shaped object, later thought to be like a hovercraft, come close to the ground. A ladder descended and two small beings in shiny suits emerged. One of them pointed something like a wand at the child, who lost consciousness. Swords 2005 p 132 citing John Timmerman |
Vernonia is a US municipality located in Columbia County, Oregon. At the 2010 census, its population was 2151 inhabitants.
John P. Timmerman, deceased in 2015, mentionned as earliest source, was a UFO investigator who worked with Dr. J. Allen Henek, and was famous for his 1,200 taped interviews of firsthand UFO witnesses which eventually ended up being published by Professor Michael D. Swords as the book "Grass-Roots UFOs".
The comment by Jean Sider that Michael Swords has a reputation of a rigorous researcher among his peers does not make much sense here; what is at stake is not the credibility of a third-hand source, but that of the witness. And we know nothing about him, amd almost nothing about his alleged encounter.
