According to the INTCAT catalogue by Bristish "skeptical" ufologist Peter Rogerson, giving "Steele 1983 p18" as source, in the "very appoximate date of the Summer of 1930, at night, Jess Mcelhaney was walking home when he chased a racoon into a field. There he encountered the luminous figure of a "most beautiful" woman in a white dress and dark stockings; which figure cast no shadow.

The figure captivated him so much that he lost the passage of time, and when he got home he found that his brother Olney had also seen the figure.

Evaluation - Date is very approximate

Points to consider:

I am unable to identify the source "Steele 1983 p18" given by [pr1]. A first name, a book title, would have been useful.

Worse, I was unable to find any other source or information on this story.

As of the case, it seems to me that this is one more of the many "ghost story" introduced in ufology by a "skeptical" researcher as an example for his thesis that CE3 are explained as misinterpretations and inventions.

Update on September 8, 2018:

A reader of this page managed to identifiy the source "Steele 1983 p18" given by Peter Rogerson [pr1] as: Phillip Steele, Ozark Tales and Superstitions, Gretna (Louisiana), Pelican Publishing Conpany, 1983. I thus added this information to the Sources References to replace "Steele, page 18, 1983."
