One Mr. Frank Teyssier wrote in June 2004 to the ufology magazine "LumièPres Dans La Nuit"; which published his narrative of the 74-year-old facts in No. 376 in 2004.
Teyssier reported that in 1930 in Avignon, in the Vaucluse, his grandmother had noticed that chickens had disappeared from her chicken coop, and on three occasions she had observed a "thing" described as a small being with a dark face and wearing a dark garment, coming from the disused seminary which adjoined her property, and which spanned the fence in order to penetrate into the poultry-house.
One evening she decided to catchit it with her brother-in-law and her 10-year-old son, father of Frank Teyssier. At almost midnight, they saw a creature appear that walked a few meters on all fours, then stood up, stopped and looked up to check the windows of the house.
The uncle then hit a window sash with the butt of his rifle. Hearing the noise, the being crouched a long while behind a wheelbarrow and then resumed its march towards the hen house. Once inside, he grabbed a chicken, which did not make a noise, then went out, taking care to close the door.
The uncle then suddenly opened the shutter and fired two cartridges, the being uttered a terrible cry but managed to escape without releasing the hen.
The next morning, traces of what looked like blood were found up to the fence of the property.
The uncle had thought it was a monkey trained to steal, while Mr. Teyssier still wondered why the being was stealing chickens when, at the seminary, chickens, ducks, geese, and pigs living in freedom were available. It is also said that the garden where it took place overlooked the vast complex of the seminary of Avignon where an old Italian woman lived with her mentally challenged nephew. The place was deemed dangerous because there were hungry pigs and snarling dogs. The seminar was demolished after the World War II and replaced by bars of buildings.

[Ref. jg1:] JULIEN GONZALEZ:
The author indicates that there was a close encounter of the third kind in France in 1930 in Avignon in the Vaucluse.
Mrs. Teyssier found that chickens had disappeared from her chicken coop. On three occasions, she observed a "thing" coming from the disused seminary that adjoined her property and which spanned the fence to enter the henhouse.
She described the "thing" as a small being with a dark face and wearing a dark garment.
One evening she decided to wait with her son and brother-in-law in order to catch the "thing", and at almost midnight they saw a creature appear, who walked a few meters on all fours, then stood up, stopped and looked up to look at the windows of the house.
The uncle then struck a vantial from the window with the butt of his rifle. Hearing the noise the being crouched a long time behind a wheelbarrow and then resumed its march towards the hen house. Once inside, he grabbed a chicken, which did not make a noise, then went out, taking care to close the door.
The uncle then abruptly opened the shutter and fired two cartridges, the being uttered a terrible cry but managed to escape without releasing the hen.
The next morning, traces of what looked like blood were found up to the fence of the property.
Julien Gonzalez said that this story was communicated in June 2004 to the magazine "Lumières Dans La Nuit" by one of the subscribers, Frank Teyssier, son of the youngest witnesses, to whom his father would have entrusted his testimony 74 years after the facts.
Julien Gonzalez says that the uncle thought it was a monkey trained to steal but that nothing confirms it.
It indicates that the garden where this took place gave on the vast set of the seminary of Avignon where an old Italian woman with her somehow mentally challenged nephew lived. The place was deemed dangerous because there were hungry pigs and snarling dogs. The seminar was demolished after World War II and replaced by tall buildings.
Julien Gonzalez indicates that Mr. Teyssier still wonders why the being was stealing chickens when he had, at the seminary, at his disposal, chickens, ducks, geese and pigs living in freedom there.
He indicates that the source is "Lumières Dans La Nuit" #376 on pages 4 and 5.
There is absolutely no indication of any interesting strangeness in the report:
I guess the "mentally challenged nephew" of the "old Italian woman", makes for an ideal culprit for the stealing of the chickens!
