It seems the Australien "Yowie" researcher Paul Cropper investigated on 15 July 2001 a case of 1930 in Kempsey, New South Wales, Australia:

One Melba Cullen, when she was 12-year-old, was picking wild flowers in the bush, by the Maria River, 10 km south of Kempsey, when she heard footsteps behind her and turned to see a hairy humanoid about 2-meters-tall standing by a stump. It had dog hair length tan colored hair.

This "Yowie" report was included later by British "skeptical" ufologist Peter Rogerson in his INTCAT catalogue.

Points to consider:

The "Macleay Argus 25 September 1976" source cited in [pr1] is not about this sighting report, but about another one - a very detailed "Yowie" report - by a Mr. George Gray, in 1968, in south Kempsey. As I do not have the Healey and Cropper book at hand, I cannot say if they mixed up the two different cases source or if Peter Rogerson did this mix up.

The case has nothing to do with UFO sightings or UFO occupants, it is a case for cryptozoology. I have no prosaic explanation, but there is no evidence, the information available to me for now is a bit scarce and the reliability of the witness is unknown.
