The CUFOS ufology group published in their internal bulletin in the 1980's an anonymous letter from someone anonymous who reported what follow.
In Pawtucket, Rhode Island, in 1914, at 03:00 p.m., this person was at a local trash dump looking for old discards, when he suddenly heard a "musical" humming sound.
Turning around, he then saw a strange craft hovering above a fence and partially above the street in front of a church. The object was gray in color with a high dome on top and a slight dome on the bottom.
An opening, like two sliding doors, then appeared. Then, two short figures emerged and took positions each on one side of the object, more came out until there were eight abreast.
The beings are described as humanoid in appearance with round heads.
They suddenly began "to sing in a beautiful harmony albeit in an unknown language."
When they finished, the doors to the craft opened again and they all filed back inside of it, an the craft then went up slowly and gradually disappeared over the church."

[Ref. js1:] JEAN SIDER:
The author indicates that in 1914, at 03:00 p.m., in Pawtucket, Rhodes Island, U.S.A, according to a letter received by the CUFOS association, founded by the late astronomer "Allen J. Hynek" [sic], the witness is in a wasteland where he came to get rid of various old stuff, when suddenly he believed to hear like a " musical buzzing sound."
Turning the head, he managed to observe a curious apparatus which flew over a fence and part of the street opposite the local church. The object was of gray color, with a dome on the top and another smaller dome below. An opening similar to two sliding doors was cut out on the hull and two short silhouettes appeared and took position on each side of the object.
Other silhouettes came out and finally there were eight of them who stood in a line. They look humanoid with a round head.
Then, they started to sing with great harmonic beauty, but in an unknown language. When the song was finished, the doors of the apparatus reopened and all the beings reinstated the object; which took off slowly and gradually to disappear above the church.
The author says the source is "Rosales, selon le bulletin Cufos Associate Newletter, vol. 3, n° 6".
He comments on that the case is hard to believe because the entities are not known for acting as chorus-boys, but rather to play a comedy, and caution is essential in spite of the source, a serious ufology bulletin created by astronomer "A. J. Hynek."
The argument of "credibility" by calling upon Dr. Joseph Allen Hynek or his astronomer profession is foolish. Whatever the serious of his CUFOS ufology group, the fact that a letter of an alleged witness appears in their internal bulletin is nothing that could tell the opinion by CUFOS or J. Allen Hynek about the credibility of the story. It is not because a publication would be "serious" that it would only stick to publishing only serious stuff, it can also publish examples of oddball cases, confusions, errors, hoaxes etc.
In fact here, it seems that the case is made only of a letter they received, and CUFOS of course, like most ufology groups, received many letters of all kinds, including crackpot stories.
The original text of this letter would probably make it possible to get a sense as for its credibility, unfortunately I do not have it for now.
