Retired Major Donald Keyhoe, pioneer of the ufology in the United States, used to get many letters, sometimes serious, but also sometimes crank letters, from "contactees", people claiming to have chatted with the extraterrestrial visitors. I know this for a fact because part of such mails is in my archive.
Albert Rosales says that one letter to Donald Keyhoe tells that in the Badlands area, Montana, USA, in July 1913, at an unknown time, J. L. Buick and another prospector were startled by a small brown man saying "Peace be with you, my friends."
Sitting on a patch of sand, there was, allegedly, a silvery round object nearly 100 feet in diameter, with a central dome and a small conning tower, no wheels underneath. Around it, were other small men in brown, picking flowers, pebbles, etc., and some mining a rock outcrop.
The occupant allegedly told the witnesses they were from another planet, which had secretly been keeping tabs on earth for over a hundred years, that they had learned English via "spies working in a US circus."
The craft rose silently and then took off.
The next day it came back, and the alleged witnesses were given a tour inside. There were "5 concentric saucers with diminishing air pressures", the outermost "being evacuated". As to lift, "gravity is only a different type of magnetism," so it can be controlled by an electromagnetic drive; they can fly at 9000 mph, and they have artificial gravity inside the saucer. Rockets, they were told, had failed for space travel."

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:
Albert Rosales indicates that in the Badlands area, Montana, in July 1913, at an unknown time, J. L. Buick and another prospector were startled by a small brown man saying "Peace be with you, my friends." Sitting on a patch of sand was a silvery round object nearly 100 ft in diameter, with central dome and a small conning tower; no wheels underneath. Around it was other small men in brown picking flowers, pebbles, etc, and some mining a rock outcrop. The occupant told the witnesses they were from another planet, which had secretly been keeping tabs on earth for over a hundred years; they had learned English via spies working in a US circus. The craft rose silently and then took off. Next day it came back, and they were given a tour inside; 5 concentric saucers with diminishing air pressures, the outermost being evacuated. As to lift, "gravity is only a different type of magnetism," so it can be controlled by an electromagnetic drive; they can do 9000 mph, and have artificial gravity inside the saucer. Rockets, they were told, had failed for space travel.
Albert Rosales indicates that the source is a "Letter to Donald Keyhoe".
[Ref. ud1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:
The website says that "in July 1913", in "Badlands, Montana, USA", there was a "Close encounter with a an unidentified craft and its occupants. An unidentified object at close range and its occupants were observed by two witnesses (Buick).".
The sources are indicated as "Webb, David, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports", and "Bloecher, Ted R., Ted R Bloecher investigation files".
Of course, the summary by Albert Rosales was reprinted by countless websites.
How anyone could believe this fable, which is just obviously a crank letter, this is beyond me.
