The Belgium flap:

On November 29, 1989, in the Eupen area:

04:40 p.m. - Sighting reported by Jérôme C.:

The witness is a schoolboy, “J.C.”, residing in Charneux. He reported the sighting that follows.

On November 29, 1989, he saw the arrival from Jalhay of an object in the shape of an equilateral triangle, flat “as if it had been cut into a board.”

The object headed straight toward him and passed approximately above his head.

It had three very bright lights placed near the corners, and of different colors: “red, white and blue.”

He was not able to say in what order the colors of the three lights were, but said they were not blinking.

It is said that when this object was the closest to him, it had the apparent size of the full moon.

SOBEPS indicates that on November 29, 1989 on the side of Jalhay, late in the afternoon, at an indefinite time, but then “it was still daylight,” young Jerome C., aged 10, was busy with his homework in his bedroom when he noticed towards the northeast, what he first thought was a plane coming towards him at a fast but steady pace, north-east to south-west.

A the object passed at a low altitude almost vertically to the witness, he noticed that it had a solid appearance and the shape of an equilateral triangle, flat and dark, “as cut into a board.”

The craft had three very strong lights, “more powerful than spots” , one white, one blue and one red, set at each angle. There was also what the witness described as a “round”, that is to say, a kind of short cylinder located at the base of the object.

The child first saw this object in prespective, as and it approached, he has gradually seen the underside.

The author states that this case was investigated during the quarter that followed.

There is a summary for this observation, published on the web by the Belgian ufologist Godelieve Van Overmeire in her catalog circa 1999, now gone, but much copied by UFO websites and forums. This summary is as follows:
