ALSACAT-2017-08-00-ALSACE-1
One Danny Mossmer published on August 14, 2017, on Youtube a video of what he called "UFO !! / RED BALL !!", or "Strange observation" in the sky of Alsace.
He reported that after filming "these strange red balls," he shared the "videos" to maybe find out more about it. He adds that he filmed them with a Nikon P900 camera with 83x zoom, that they are not planes because he knows very well how to recognize them. He gives neither a place, nor a date, nor an hour.
In the video, he indicates by texts that he was sitting in the middle of the country with two friends, when one of them noticed two red balls in the sky that remained motionless, and one that was moving rather quickly.
He then speaks of two luminous dots, one on the left and one on the right of the "ball", which "flashes" from time to time.
He indicates that he regrets not having had any tripod, and that he now shows the second "red ball", the one that was moving. He ends with a picture.
Everything looks like a video of Chinese lanterns, if not the "flickering" lights mentioned on both sides of the first "ball". Unfortunately, I am not able to rule out that thes flickering side lights may be a simple artifact from the intensive use of the digital zoom.
On January 14, 2018, someone republished with the authorization of the original author the same video on his "Youtube channel" abut UFOs, with the title "'UFO' a huge red ball in the sky of (wolscwiller ALSACE) FRANCE", with the date August 7, 2017, and the hour of about 10 p.m.

Since 2005, Chinese lanterns constitute the bulk of the "testimonies" of UFOs found on websites devoted to the subject of UFOs and essentially publishing such "web report"; generally the only treatment is the publication, without any information on a possible cause, without any investigation or comment.
In Alsace, such releases are especially popular now since fireworks and firecrackers, long tolerated, are now prohibited for use unless special exemptions; Alsatians therefore largely adopted the lanterns.
As these lanterns are usually released at private or public parties, they are most often seen on Saturday nights, often at wedding dates or official festivities such as the National Day or New Year's Eve, usually between 10 p.m. and midnight. They are then usually released in clusters. But sometimes the purchaser performs a "test flight" a few days before, sometimes with a single lantern.
Above: a Chinese lantern.
Probable Chinese lanterns.
