ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

@staroos5364

i saw exactly the same [= "a triangular UFO", see below."] in my town pf the Bas Rhin at abt 50 m altitude. quasi silent and speed too slow for a plane in september 2016.

Note: this comment was given about an alleged UFO video from Charlotteville, Virginia, USA, with an added synthetic voice commentary which assured that it is "incredible" and that it reminds of "the hypothesis of the famous secret craft called the TR-3B" while adding that "of course the hypothesis of the drone is not ruled out."

The video showed this, sometimes with a flashing central red light:

Video frame.

Discussion:

About the alleged "TR-3B":

After Bob Lazar got a lot of publicity by introducing himself as an "Area 51" veteran and claiming that he had visited the interior of an alien flying saucer there, others took over.

It was in 1998 that a man presenting himself as "Edgar Fouché" (1948-2017), in the USA, claimed to be a former "Area 51" employee, and that there was a secret craft built from retro-engineering of extraterrestrial craft, designated "TR-3B", in the shape of a triangle, with three headlights at the corners, in short, totally inspired by what witnesses said they had seen in previous years.

It was pure invention. The U.S. Air Force built - initially - secret planes (U-2, SR-71, F-117, B-2...) but never built any "TR-3B", neither in the 1990s nor later. There is no huge craft in any air force capable of hovering silently (I'm not talking about balloons or drones that have since appeared, obviously, but about piloted craft with the characteristics claimed for this "TR-3B").

Fouché has repeatedly betrayed himself by his many lies, some of which are enormous and point to total incompetence (belief that radars detect the composition of UFOs, writing "E lent" for "Elint", writing that the "foo fighters" of 1944 outdistanced the US jet planes, fake so-called "KGB passport", confusion between the prototype Have Blue and the F-117, false assertion that a "Steve Stenson" commanded the AFFTC, etc.

Despite this, the "TR-3B" myth is continued by others, including ufologists, some of whom defend the thesis of "secret planes of human manufacture", other defending "secret planes built on extraterrestrial technologies" as an explanation for UFO sightings.

These people often sell books of little value actually.

About this report:

It shows above all the terrible uselessness of "social networks" when it comes to UFO sighting reporting: no specific place, no precise date, no time, no duration, no follow-up, no investigation, etc. etc.

It's perfectly possible that "@staroos5364" saw three lights in the sky. But what were they? With this story, we can offer a plane, three Chinese lanterns, LED balloons, a helicopter, a drone bought ina local store, an extraterrestrial craft, three jet fighter planes on patrol, etc etc.

Evaluation:

Totally insufficient information.
