On the very date of his observation, "rseb", 38, machine driver, registered with the ufology forum "Les Mystères des OVNIS" to report his sighting from his home in Auenheim in the Bas-Rhin on March 12, 2012.
At 08:07 p.m., while smoking a cigarette under a clear sky, gazing at two very visible stars in the sky, he saw something appear that he felt hard to describe.
It was more or less cross-shaped, burgundy red, and produced a noise that made him think of the lightsabers in "Stars Wars" when they are drawn out.
It was moving very fast, comparable to the shoot into a football.
There were at that time three of them, two of which overlapped "with great agility."
Thinking he was becoming crazy, he spoke about it to his girlfriend when she came home, and he felt she did not believe him.
But that same evening at 10:59 p.m., these things came again, five of them, with the same speed and the same agility than the previous ones.
Unfortunately, he did not respond to requests for additional information by members of the forum.
But in 2016, the GEIPAN, the official UAP investigation group in France, published on their website the anonymized questionnaire he filled out about his observation, readable below.

Short successive observations in the same evening of the passage of crimson-red objects in the clear sky: lack of information and cross-checks.
On March 12, 2012 at 8 p.m., a witness went out on his terrace and looked at the sky when he saw in the clear sky 3 crimson-red objects in the shape of a cross. These objects cross the sky from west to north. The observation lasts only a few seconds. At 10:50 p.m. the witness goes out again on his terrace with his companion and both then see 5 objects in the sky moving from North to East. They will quickly be hidden by the landscape (trees and houses of the subdivision). Only one testimony is collected.
The observation of red flying objects moving in groups in the sky evokes Chinese lanterns released on the occasion of a festival.
The Météociel reading in Strasbourg at 40 km indicates a light variable NE, N, NW wind. In this case, this displacement described towards the North-East corresponds badly to the local wind; but this wind was weak and variable, and we don't have a very close weather report. We cannot formally exclude this hypothesis.
The day of the week (Monday) is rarely a day for holidays, which is also not in favor of this hypothesis, as well as the cross shape described by the witness.
Air traffic does not mention any aircraft that may match the sighting.
GEIPAN received no other reports of phenomena that day in the region. For lack of precise weather information, and lack of cross-checks, the GEIPAN classifies this case in category C.

As part of CNES's activity of expertise in unidentified aerospace phenomena, GEIPAN works to collect, analyze and rigorously study the testimonies collected during observations of Unidentified Aerospace Phenomena (UAP) while guaranteeing witnesses absolute discretion.
The rigor of the scientific approach requires us to gather the most precise and complete information possible, without intermediaries. The best information document is therefore one that is freely written by the witness himself. This is the purpose of the questionnaire that we are proposing to you and which must be individual and filled separately by each of the witnesses to the observation. It is structured in several parts:
- A narration of the observation we ask you to make before reading the rest of the questionnaire.
Even if you believe you have already recounted your observation on a previous letter, please recount your observation.
- A list of more specific questions intended to make you specify a certain number of data necessary for the analysis of your observation. It is important to answer as fully as possible the questions asked.
- One or more photographs or one or more free sketches in order to be able to work out as well as possible on the cartographic restitution.
This questionnaire will be studied with the other documents dealing with the same phenomenon. When the work has been completed, we will let you know the conclusions we have reached. These conclusions, the attachments and this questionnaire will be published anonymously on the GEIPAN website.
Very important: if you have a computer and Word, Open-Office or equivalent software, save this document, fill it in on your computer, and send it back to GEIPAN by email, in .doc or .pdf format . For any handwritten drawings, please scan them and insert them into the computer document; if you do not have the possibility, send it separately by mail. 8:00 p.m. like every evening I go out on the terrace to smoke my cigarette... I look at the sky on the left side, where there are 2 most scintillating stars when suddenly I see 3 "objects in the sky" crimon-red, 2 of which overlapped. My girlfriend comes back from her afternoon work, I talk to her about it and of course she doesn't believe me, 10:50 p.m. we smoke on the terrace and 10:59 p.m. we see again these same "objects" in the number of 5, stasing in a group then deployed next to each other and always with great agility and speed.

Or did they come from various places? Did they converge? 4/Between the 2 stars you are talking about how many of these crosses could you put (i thus try to estimate the angular size). Auenheim would be between 116 and 121 meters of altitude, it would be not far from Hagueneau, at then end of the sixties it was a town where there were military drills (tank manoeuvers) what about it now...? |

These are frisbees fitted with fiber optics illuminated by LED, available in many colors, sold for example on the web by "Amazon", flashflight.com etc.
Some have the reported dark red color, the cross-shape appearance, and produce the sound that the witness compared to "Star Wars" laser swords.
