ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Krafft, on May 20, 2011:

Case number:

ALSACAT-2011-05-20-KRAFFT-1

Summary:

Someone using the "Red Baron" pseudonym sent by email to Christian Macé, who published them on his "UFO and paranormal" blog as photos of a UFO, pictures and explanations about them.

The images are a photo-montage of two highly downsized digital photographs and one enlargement with pixel smoothing, showing two little blurs in the sky.

"Red Baron", who thought that these are not birds, explained that it comes from the photos taken by the daughter of a colleague in Krafft in the Bas-Rhin on May 20, 2011, at 08:10 p.m. and 30 seconds of interval.

Apparently the girl had intended to shoot the double rainbow that was in the sky that stormy evening. It is "Red Baron" who saw by watching the images closely what he thought was strange.

Ufo photographed in Krafft in the Bas-Rhin in Alsace on May 20, 2011

Above, original photos of the ufo in Krafft

Ufo captured on photograph in Krafft, in the Bas-Rhin, in Alsace, in France, on May 20, 2011, at 08 : 16 p.m.. A Big Thank You to Baron Rouge for his email with the original photos joined above... :

"Hello, it is always a pleasure to view the collection of information compiled every day, what a work. Attached is a small editing I did with the photos that a colleague's daughter took on a stormy day for the souble rainbow. (on 05/20/2011 at 08:16 p.m. in the village of Krafft, 67150 in Alsace). Bi [sic] looking closer one can see by enlarging behind the power lines a dark elongated mass, it is found again between the two rainbows ??

Hard to define the object but it does not seem that it is a bird.

The two pictures were taken at about 30 s interval.

Weird..

Friendly,

Baron Rouge.".

Discussion:

Map.

Contrary to what is written by Christian Macé, there is no "original photos" there, only some cut and paste editing of extremely shrunken images with pixel smoothing that can no longer show how many pixels the so-called "UFO" was made of.

It is not told, but obviously there was no visual observation, the sender only saw something he found to be strange when examining the images on a computer. This is what is often called "Surprise Photos" by French ufologists.

And obviously there is nothing to support the claim that it was not birds. Rather, it is exactly how birds look like on such digital photographs, often called "BLURFOs".

Evaluation:

BLURFOs, probable birds.
