On February 20, 2005, the Alsatian ufology and astronomy association "SPICA" published on the Web a testimony that they had received via their website, about an observation by Christelle on the night of Friday, February 18, 2005. Christelle said:
I observed a luminous phenomenon in the night of Friday, February 18. I live in Fegersheim south of Strasbourg, it was around 10:30 p.m. and I was going to bed. I was sitting beside my bed facing the two windows in the room (of which the shutters are still open) when I saw a luminous ball arrive at the top left of the first window and crossed my field of vision in an arc of circle to the down right of the second window. The ball was white and bright and surrounded by a halo of light too. It seemed to me that one of the ends of the ball (the left) was rather orange .I did not hear any particular noise although one of the window pane was held opened. Everything was very lighting. I first thought of a firework or a flare. It is only today, when my stepfather asked me if I had seen the phenomenon the newspaper is talking about, that I realized that I actually saw something that is neither a flare or fireworks !!! That is why I give you my testimony. I am at your disposal if you want more details.
In the regional newspaper Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace for February 19, 2005, it was said that on February 18, 2005 at 10:30 p.m., a "luminous phenomenon" in the sky had many witnesses, in the Haut-Rhin, in the Vosges, the surroundings of Mulhouse, Guebwiller, Colmar, with similar descriptions, made at the operational center of the gendarmerie. Airline pilots also observed the phenomenon.
The witnesses spoke of a light moving at high speed in the direction Germany-Vosges. Radars at Drachenbronn Air Base 901 had detected nothing. The gendarmes of the brigades of Ribeauvillé, Blodelsheim and Guebwiller, were put on alert; research has been undertaken to locate the site of a possible meteorite crash. These ended in the night in the slightest discovery.
The "SPICA" then published a message by Gilles Munsch of the Northeastern France ufology grouping CENGU, explaining that the phenomenon has been widely observed in the Vosges, from where many testimonies have reached them, suggesting a fall of a meteor with noise and fragmentation in flight, and possible impact in the western Vosges.

This phenomenon has been widely observed in the Vosges where many testimonies reach us, suggesting a crash from a meteor with noise and fragmentation in flight.
Possible impact west of the Vosges.

I know that there are testimonies in Alsace and I could perhaps tell you more about it tomorrow. The azimuths related to the trajectory must be read as soon as possible and in the most precise way possible so as to allow a reconstitution of the trajectory, which seems possible given the number and the distance of the witnesses.
Please keep an eye on the local press and send me a copy (or reference) of the articles if possible.

Haut-Rhin
On the evening from Friday to Saturday, at about 10:30 p.m., a luminous phenomenon was observed in the Haut-Rhin and the Vosges sky by many witnesses.
Several people in the vicinity of Mulhouse, Guebwiller and Colmar described similar events to the operational center of the gendarmerie. Witnesses assured that a light was moving at high speed in the direction from the Vosges to Germany. While the radar set of the air force base 901 in Drachenbronn detected nothing, airline pilots also observed the phenomenon.
The police brigades of Ribeauvillé, Blodelsheim and Guebwiller have also been put on alert. A search has been undertaken to locate the site of a possible crash of a meteorite. These were stopped in the night without any finding.
