ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Subject: Observation over the Bas-Rhin?
Date: 07/27/2002 07:01 p.m.
From: [A fellow ufologist from the Mulhouse region.]
To: (Patrick GROSS)

CC: [A fellow ufologist from another region.]

Dear Patrick,

[A ufologist from the south of France] has just phoned, it seems that observers saw UFOs of triangular shape above the Bas-Rhin, between BITCHE AND STRASBOURG, last night.

Can you call for information on the UFO-Sciences mailing list?

I'll take care of making one to the SPICA association of Odratzheim.

Thank you

[The ufologist colleague from the Mulhouse region.]

26/07/02: Observations of triangular UFOs between Strasbourg and Bitche

Notes: before 04/25/2002, there was no question here of concluding or firmly asserting anything about the nature of the object observed, probably a balloon, but simply of putting together what was reported to me. In particular, I could not say anything about the veracity of the storie or the authenticity of the photographs.

On the evening of July 26, 2002, observers reportedly saw triangular-shaped UFOs above the Bas-Rhin, between Bitche and Strasbourg.

Please communicate your observations or information in relation to the author of this site who will pass it on to the local investigators.

Source: UFOs at close sight

Bitche is in the Moselle department, outside Alsace; Strasbourg is in the Bas-Rhin in Alsace. The distance in a straight line between Bitche and Strasbourg is 56 kilometers, which gives us a very vague localization of the case... At best, we can say that if the observation really took place "between" these two cities, it probably took place in Alsace since between Bitche and the Bas-Rhin there are at most 12 kilometers.

Anyways, there is obviously not enough information to concoct an explanation.

Totally insufficient information.
