ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Mulhouse, on July 5, 2002:

Case number:

ALSACAT-2002-07-05-MULHOUSE-3

Summary:

Via the newspaper L'Alsace for July 10, 2002, myself and another local member of the French Federation of Ufology (F.F.U.) launched a call for witnesses for a sighting in our area on July 5, 2002 at 10:30 p.m. We had received several other testimonies in return, some of which may relate to the sighting in question, others clearly relating to earlier sightings in the Haut-Rhin.

Following this call for witnesses, the secretariat of the F.F.U. noted among others a call of July 10, 2002, from an 83-year-old lady living in Mulhouse, who said she had seen a luminous triangle motionless for at least 15 minutes, with three lights on the edges, in the evening of July 5, 2002.

[Ref. pgs1:] I AND ANOTHER LOCAL UFOLOGIST:

Through the regional newspaper L'Alsace for July 10, 2002, a local member, like I was then too, of the Fédération Française d'Ufologie (French Federation of Ufology, FFU) had a call to witness published about a sighting report in our area, the Haut-Rhin department:

Following this call to witnesses, the FFU secretary had received a dozen phone calls, all without direct connection with the sighting report that prompted our call to witnesses.

"Luminous triangle motionless during at least 15 minutes, with three lights on the corners."

On this satellite view of the city of Mulhouse, the witness was at "W":

For some reason I cannot remember, we did not investigate this sightings; maybe it was due to lack of time as we had many opened investigations after the July 10, 2002, call for witnesses.

Two other sightings reports for that evening were:
