ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Summary:

Francis, from the Bas-Rhin, reported by email to the Swiss ufology group GREPI, that on Sunday, June 1st, 2001, at 4 p.m., there was a sighting of "a weather balloon or a UFO" above his village.

He indicates that the thing was of spherical shape, of white color, that there was no noise, no contrail, that the flight was constant, the speed also constant, and it flew from the Northeast to the Southwest.

Sunday, June 1, 2003, 4 p.m.. Observation of a weather balloon or ufo, above my village, spherical, white, no noise, no contrail, constant travel, heading followed: northeast / southwest, constant speed.

Weather balloon or something else? If other witnesses of the phenomenon can tell you more about it, thank you.

Francis (Bas-Rhin - France)

Discussion:

The witness tells that it could have been a weather balloon, so it is hard to exclude that it was a weather balloon.

Evaluation:

Possible weather balloon.
