ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case in Alsace, on a March 24 in the 2000's:

Case number:

ALSACAT-2000-03-24-ALSACE-1

Summary:

A person who remained anonymous saying to live in Alsace told the website "Tout sur les Extraterrestres" ("All About Aliens") his sighting that occurred "a few years before 2007," in Alsace.

This person ensures that he never thought he would one day witness an inexplicable phenomenon.

A Monday morning, March 24, at 04:44 a.m., going to work, he saw something he will never forget: he was advancing inside the factory, when his attention was drawn to a light in the sky "a rather large ball with square shapes that were illuminated in all colors."

There was like a red and yellow trail of fire over a distance of 50 meters.

It flew over the plant at an altitude of about 50 meters, at an "average speed" and constant speed.

The person looked back to see if he was the only witness, and saw another person walking normally about 20 meters away, but looking down, so he did not dare to alert this other person.

The witness said he thought at the time to experience an hallucination caused by fatigue. But later, a colleague had stopped him and said: "You will not believe me if I told you that I saw a ufos [sic] in the sky!"

The witness said he believed that, and they "exchanged details about the flying object."

The witness states that the time accuracy is due to the fact that there was a time clock at the entrance of the plant.

(A few years before 2007)

In Alsace, a few years ago

Hello, i live in Alsace i never thought that one day i would witness an inexplicable phenomenon. This is one day going to my work one Monday morning i saw something i will never forget. It was a Monday, March 24 at 4:44 am (we have a timecardat the gate of the factory), i walked into the factory when i was drawn to a light in the sky, a rather large ball with square shapes that are lit in all colors. There was like a red and yellow trail of fire over a distance of 50 meter. It was flying 50 meters above the plant at an average and constant speed. I turned to see if I was the only witness, there was another person who was walking normally at about 20 meters head down, I did not dare to say anything, I thought for a while of an hallucination because of with fatigue. Later, a colleague called me and told me, you will not believe me if I told you that I saw a ufos in the sky! I answered him and i believe you, and we exchanged details of the flying object.

Discussion:

An investigation or at least some questions and answers could have clarified many things:

Noisy or silent object? How many "squares", and what pattern for their colors? How long did the sighting last? Over which plant did it happen? How to contact the mentioned second witness? What angular size for the size given as "rather large"? etc.

It would probably be possible to find the year, to get a viewing direction, in short, to fill the gaps that make the story of something that seems at first of high strangeness, impossible to comment with any certainty.

Who says "trail", says meteor or space junk reentry, at least potentially. The multicolored squares rather obviously indicate a reentry rather than a meteor.

My catalog of observations in Alsace who no UFO, no meteor, no space debris reentry for any March 24, at least for the mmoment. Nothing matches in the GEIPAN listing and nothing in the few "catalogs" websites with French cases.

No trace of space debris or meteor for March 24 between 1999 and 2005 on the web; but this research is obviously difficult to conclude.

So, for now, I note the case as an "unidentified" but with insufficient information.

Evaluation:

Unidentified, insufficient information.
