In a listing of UFO sighting reports in the Haut-Rhin on their website, the Alsatian ufology association SPICA noted in 2015 that in 1999 in Niedersteinbach, a "ball, balloon or melon (3D)" of green color was seen; which remained unidentified, but was probably a meteor.
