ALSACAT-1978-03-20-BOURTZWILLER-1
In the 1970s, Mrs. Gueudelot, archivist for the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit, compiled case files. One of the cases came from Denis Graff, a correspondent ufologist for the magazine, and concerned a sighting dated March 20, 1978, between 09:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. in Bourtzwiller.
The witness was a student who had asked to remain anonymous.
The general observation conditions were good; the sky was starry.
The witness said he had seen two objects, rectangular in shape, clearly distinct, strictly parallel, and not connected.
Each rectangle had an angular size equivalent to 10 centimeters at arm's length.
The first was orange in color and the second was white; these colors did not change.
The witness explained that "it was like a fluorescent, transparent glow." "I had the impression they knew where they were going..."
The altitude was constant, the speed steady, and the observation lasted from 15 to 20 seconds.

Bourtzwiller is a former commune of the Haut-Rhin, incorporated since 1947 into the city of Mulhouse, of which it is the most populous of the sixteen districts.
The strangeness of the case is not negligible, particularly the angular size of 10 centimeters in length at arm's length for each rectangle, which is enormous and would normally rule out any airplane or helicopter.
Unfortunately, some information is missing, such as the angular distance traveled, and whether there was sound or not.
A double meteor seems unlikely to me because, as far as I know, there were no other simultaneous sightings in the region.
Unidentified.
