ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Staffelfelden, on March 15, 1977:

Case number:

ALSACAT-1977-03-15-STAFFELFELDEN-1

Summary:

In the 1970s, Mrs. Gueudeulot, archivist of the French ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit, noted observation reports transmitted by the magazine's correspondents. This archive surfaced in the 2020's through the efforts of the "Sceau" association which is dedicated to the preservation of UFO archives.

Among the apparently unpublished cases found there, there is an observation report sent by her correspondent Mr. Pernot, dated March 15, 1977:

Around 10 p.m., a young girl riding a moped in the Staffelfelden forest to reach her home, coming from Wittenheim, saw in the sky towards the South two large red-orange dots moving at very high speed.

She said it was nothing like an airplane, and it didn't make any noise.

These two dots were followed at a short distance by another yellow-white light with a very bright appearance.

It only lasted a few seconds.

She was scared and once home, she refrained from telling those around her about that, for fear of scoffing.

Time: around 10 p.m.

A young girl riding a moped in the STAFFELFELDEN forest to reach her home and coming from WITTENHEIM, sees in the sky, heading SOUTH, two large red-orange dots moving at very high speed. According to the witness, nothing comparable to an airplane, just as this phenomenon did not emit any noise. These two dots were followed at a short distance by another yellow-white light with a very bright appearance. This appearance lasted only a few seconds. The witness became frightened and once returned, refrained from telling those around her for fear of ridicule.
