In the 1970s, Mrs. Gueudeulot, archivist of the French ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit, noted observation reports sent by the magazine's correspondents. These archive surfaced in the 2020's through the efforts of the "Sceau" association which is dedicated to the preservation of UFO archives.
Among the apparently so forth unpublished cases found there, there is an observation dated "autumn 1977" and located in Brunstatt, which would come from an investigation by the ufology group G.A.E.P., "section of Didenheim" (Didenheim and Brunstatt are so close that the two municipalities later merged).
The report indicates that around 3:00 a.m., Mr. R. Kempf, 41 years old, who had never seen a UFO before, who goes to bed early and gets up very early in the morning, had seen for almost 30 seconds an object of apparently spherical shape, whose fixed light was yellow, which did not emit any sound, the silence being impressive, going at a rapid speed from the left to the right, i.e. the direction South to East, at an altitude estimated at 2000 meters and a "not very far" distance.
From his bedroom, through the window, he thought that the object was above the trees of the Didenheim forest. The witness did not report his sighting to authorities.

The report is obviously quite poor; for example, we do not know whether Mr. Kempf saw the UFO arrive, whether he saw it leave.
Maybe this is a "good" case, maybe not.
Having lived in Brunstatt for a long time, I just know that there is little chance of reporting like this the passage of an airliner going or leaving the Basel - Mulhouse airport.
