In "Ufologia", the newsletter of the ufology group CFRU, a letter from "A.G.", a reader was published in late 1977. She reacted to an observation in Strasbourg the day after hers.
The reader said without more precision that she lives in "a small village north of Strasbourg" and, going out like every night to take out her cats, she had seen on Easter Sunday around 10:40 p.m. a yellowish "ball" that was not a star at all.
She said she was accustomed to the starry sky of her region and thus found the incident unusual.
She noted that the object moved very slowly, not in falling, but in a straight line and very gently.
She called her husband to show it to him; he saw it too, but while the woman was looking for binoculars, it disappeared behind the trees.
According to the couple's estimate, the "ball" was to be located above the Rhine near Offendorf.
The witness testified that it was not a jet plane, a helicopter, or a flare.
Around 1995, the CNEGU took on the observation in an article about Moon misintepretations, noting the poverty of the narrative which does not even tell the name of the village of residence. The CNEGU notes that as "the witness" resides north of Strasbourg, it is clear that the UFO is seen relatively to the east, that the direction of observation may coincide with that of the rising moon, and that the description shows no incompatibility with such a mistake, quite the contrary.

UFO IN ALSACE
About the article of the "DNA" for April 23, 1976: "A UFO IN THE SKY OF THE ROBERSTAU" (Editor's note: see "UFOLOGIA" #5, page 13), I would like to share the following with you:
- I live in a small village north of Strasbourg and, every evening, I take my cats out for the night. But on Easter Sunday, as the next day was a day of rest, I went out quite late, around 10:40 p.m. My gaze was drawn to a yellowish "ball" that could not be mistaken for a star. I'm used to the starry sky in our region and that's why I found the incident unusual. While looking at it, I saw that this "ball" was moving, but very slowly, and I called my husband to show it to him. He saw it too, but while I was looking for the binoculars it disappeared behind the trees.
- I can say that it is not a jet plane, nor a helicopter. It was also not a flare, we know them well since the WW II. It should be noted that the object moved not while falling, but on a straight line; and very gently! According to our estimate, the ball must have been above the Rhine, near OFFENDORFF.

About the article of "DNA" (*) for 23 April 1976: "UFO IN THE SKY OF ROBERTSAU"
(Note: See "Ufologia" No. 5, page 13), I wish to share with you the following:
I live in a small village north of Strasbourg and, every night, I let my cats out for the night. But on Easter Sunday, as the next day was a day of rest, I went out a bit later, around 10:40 p.m. approx. My gaze was attracted by a "ball" of yellowish color that was impossible to be confuse with a star. I am used to the starry sky of our region and that's why I found the incident unusual. While watching it, I saw that this "ball" was moving, but very slowly and I called my husband to show him. He also saw it but, while looking for binoculars, it disappeared behind the trees.
I can affirm that this is not a jet plane or a helicopter. It was not a flare, we know them well since 1939-45. Note that the object was not falling, but moving in a straight line and very gently! In our estimation, the "ball" should be above the Rhine near OFFENDORF.

Again, it is unfortunate that the article is so poor on the informational level!
No azimuth and the village of residence of the witness is not even mentioned ...
Difficult to conduct an investigation in such conditions!
As the witness resides north of Strasbourg, it is clear that the UFO is seen relatively eastward.
If the town where he lives is more than 25km from Strasbourg (center) viewing direction coincide once again with that of the rising Moon.
For the rest of the description, no incompatibility with such a misinterpretation (quite the contrary).

Two residents of a small village north of Strasbourg observe at 10:40 p.m. (UT: 08:40 p.m.) on Easter Sunday, a yellowish ball moving slowly in the sky. The phenomenon disappears behind the trees above Offendorf.

There is a problem with the Moon, as on April 18, 1976, at 10:40 p.m., the Moon is not visible. It will only rise at 00:19 on April 19, 1976.
So this is an unidentified to me, though without strangeness.
