ALSACAT-1968-09-28-NEUFBRISACH-1
In the "Contact Lecteurs" supplement of the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit for November 1970, a case was reportedly narrated by its witness. It occurred on September 29, 1968 - the witness' wife did not agree on the exact date of the event - at 08:20 p.m. near Neuf Brisach in the Haut-Rhin.
Mr. Jean-Paul Guntz, aged 33, employee of the national power company, told he had left Mulhouse by the National Road 68 and taken the power company road between Strasbourg and Chalampé along the Rhine, under a clear sky, no wind, normal temperature.
He was surprised to see all the chrome part of his dashboard shine, and got the impression that the moon was rising.
Casting a glance at the rear view mirror, he saw the back of his car lit, and above it a luminous area. He slowed down and had the feeling of a strong numbness. The car shifted to the left, the engine that was in fourth gear stalled.
He braked and nothing happened, it was unresponsive, he was no longer in control of the vehicle; which left the road and went into the bushes on the left or the road, and the car's lights were off.
He saw a dark halo of light colored in blue, green and yellow. Shortly after he got the impression that this dark blue changed to purple.
The halo of light came from a circular object in the shape of a plate turned upside down. The object appeared to come from Switzerland and headed north. When it was overhead at a very low altitude, moving very slowly, he felt that its speed was accelerating and that it rotated faster.
It took an orange color. The witness could not see the circular motion anymore, and color of the object turned to white. Then he did not see anything anymore because the object rose very quickly in a direction from west to northwest.
The observation duration was 2 to 3 minutes. The distance on which the object had followed his car was about 300 meters.
The witness tried to find out if other people had seen the phenomenon, but in vain. The next day, he returned to the place and found the location where the car had come to rest and the trace of the accident.
He experienced numbness for 24 hours and assures that since that day, perhaps by coincidence, his watch did not function anymore.

The witness is Mr. Guntz Jean-Paul (33 years old)t E.D.F. agent The witness's wife does not agree on the exact date of the event, but the fact is worth quoting.
Here is his story:
Leaving Mulhouse by the N 68, I took the private road to the E.D.F. which runs along the Rhine between Chalampé and Strasbourg (consult the Michelin maps, n ° 66, fold 10, n ° 62, folds 10 and 20).
By a clear sky, while the wind was zero, the temperature normal, I was surprised to see all the chrome on my dashboard shining.
I felt the moon was rising and glancing in the rearview mirror, I saw the back of the car lit up and a spot of light above me. I slowed down, and I had the sensation of a strong numbness. The vehicle shifted to the left, the engine stalled in fourth gear. I was braking, nothing! The car was no longer responding my commands! I was no longer in control of my vehicle. The car left the road to crash into the bushes on the left side, and I had no more lights.
I saw a luminous halo of dark blue, green and yellow color. I had the impression that this dark blue color broke down soon after, and turned purple. This luminous halo came from a circular object having the shape of an inverted plate and seeming to rotate. This mysterious object seemed to come from Switzerland and was heading north. When it was above me, at a very low altitude, moving very slowly, I had the impression that its speed was accelerating and that it was spinning faster and faster.
Its color turned orange, I could no longer see the rotating movement and its color turned white. Then, I saw nothing anymore, because it rose very quickly in a direction from west to north-west. The duration of the observation was 2 to 3 minutes. The distance it followed me was about 300m.
I got information to find out whether others than me had seen the phenomenon: negative result.
The next day I returned to the place and found the location where the car stopped and the trace of the accident.
I had a feeling of numbness that lasted 24 hours and since that day, is it a coincidence? my wristwatch never functioned again!

Observation
The witness moves on the road that goes along the Rhine coming from Mulhouse. Suddenly his panel is lighted by an external source of light. He distinguishes in his rear view mirror that the back of his car is lighted by a light coming from above. He then feels numb, the car's engine stops, the car goes on on its impulse and ends in a brush on the left. The headlights go off. The witness then observes an object in the shape of a reversed plate surrounded by a halo of several colors. The object moves slowly coming from the south. A movement of rotation is visible. The movement of rotation accelerates, the colors of the object changes [sic] going to the orange then to the white, then the object raises fast to the West North West. The witness will feel a sensation of numbness during 24 h. The witness' watch definitively stopped since the observation.

Former journalist Christian Valentin published in 2012 a very interesting book telling the story of UFO sightings, flying saucers sightings, in Alsace, from the beginning to 1980.
In this book, he reports that an observation on September 29, 1968, at 08:20 in Neuf Brisach in the Haut-Rhin was reported in Lumières dans la Nuit - Contact Lecteurs #4 for November 1970, as an investigation by Mr. Fontanié:
The witness is Mr. J-P G. (33 years old), EDF agent. The wife of the witness does not agree on the exact date of the event, but the fact is worth mentioning.
Here is his story:
"Leaving Mulhouse by the RN 68, I took the private road EDF along the Rhine between Strasbourg and Chalampé. By sky c / garlic; while there was no wind, normal temperature, I was surprised to see all the chrome shine my dashboard.
I had the impression that the moon rose, and casting a glance at the mirror; I saw the back of the car and informed me over a light task. I slowed down and I had a strong feeling numbness. The vehicle veered to the left, the engine stalled in fourth.
I braked, there is one command unresponsive! I was no longer master of my vehicle. The car left the road ahead for butter in the bushes left side, and I had no lighting.
I saw a bright halo of dark blue, green and yellow. I had the impression that this dark blue broke down soon after, and became violet. This bright halo came from a circular object in the form of a reverse turn and pretend plate. This mysterious object appeared to come from Switzerland and headed north. When he was above me, at very low altitude, moving very slowly, I felt that his speed quickened and he turned more and more quickly.
The color became orange, I could see the circular motion and the color turned to white. Then I saw nothing as it rose rapidly in a direction from west to northwest. The observation duration was 2 to 3 minutes. The distance over which it followed me was about 300 m.
I made inquiries to find out if others than me had seen the phenomenon: Negative result: The next day I returned to the place and I found the location where the car had stopped and the trace of the accident.
I had a feeling of numbness that lasted 24 hours and since that day - Is this a coincidence? my watch never functioned again!"

To me there is no doubt that what has been seen according to the story is anything but ordinary, certainly not a natural phenomenon, not a human-made aircraft.
Doubt, to me, can be cast on the credibility of the story: we only have a single witness, only his own narrative, obviously no investigation or checking of any kind. All this may be true, or perhaps entirely made up, inspired by the many fairly standard and similar descriptions of such encounters.
Extraterrestrial visitors or invention.
